Thoughts on the Gospel (John 6:51-58)
Today’s gospel teaches one central truth: Jesus, the “living bread,” offers the only nourishment that can satisfy the deepest hunger of the human heart. Jesus reveals that He gives more than physical nourishment - He offers spiritual life, inner renewal, and deep union with God. Human beings hunger for peace, purpose, love and forgiveness, but worldly pursuits like success or pleasure cannot fill this emptiness. Only Christ can.
The Eucharist expresses this intimate relationship: receiving Jesus is not just ritual but a transforming encounter that shapes thoughts, choices, relationships, and daily living. In life’s burdens - fear, grief, failure, anxiety - Jesus continues to offer Himself as strength and healing. His self-giving love becomes a model for us. Just as He nourishes us, we are called to become nourishment for others through kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and service. True communion with Christ leads to a life marked by peace, humility, and love.

Lord Jesus, Living Bread, nourish what is weak in me, heal what is wounded, and fill what is empty. Teach me to draw my life from You alone.

Thoughts on the Gospel (John 3:16-18)
Today’s Feast of the Trinity reminds us that God is a family of love. What the Trinity says is that God reaches us personally in three different ways, clearly delineated in the scriptures. We see God as Father, the origin and creator of all life and dependent existence. We see God as Son in Jesus, the visible and human revelation and manifestation of God’s love and compassion for the whole world. Finally, we see God as Spirit forming us, guiding us, teaching us, moving us, comforting and strengthening us. God’s own life is a shared life, a life of mutually interacting relationships. From this we can consider that we are called to a shared living with the Three who are one God, with other people and with our whole created environment. We are called to find unity and harmony in the midst of ever-changing diversity. Today’s feast can be a reminder to pray with greater meaning and respectfulness that most common of all prayers - the Sign of the Cross. It combines both the mystery of the Trinity and mystery of our salvation through Jesus’ suffering, death and rising to life.

“The grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and
the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”

Thoughts on the Gospel
The heart of John 20:19–23 is Jesus transforming fear into mission. The risen Christ enters a locked room, speaks peace, shows His wounds, breathes the Holy Spirit, and entrusts His disciples with the ministry of forgiveness. This moment is both deeply personal and profoundly ecclesial: Jesus heals frightened hearts and simultaneously sends them into the world.
This gospel serves as a powerful reminder of the depth of God’s love and the purpose that He places in each of our lives. We are called not only to receive His peace and forgiveness but also to pass it on to others. Through the empowering of the Holy Spirit, each of us can play a crucial role in God’s mission to the world. We walk forward in faith, connected to one another, committed to spreading the light of Christ wherever we go.
Come, O Spirit of God.
Holy Spirit, I offer myself to Your work of healing, peace and reconciliation.
In my busy world, bless my silent moments. In the stillness of my heart, may I find peace within myself, peace with others, and peace with You, Amen.

The “togetherness” theme is woven into the design with intersecting, paths, shared seating and a reflective water feature, highlighting what can be achieved when communities work together. The garden, funded by the Giving Back Project, will be unveiled at the Chelsea Flower Show and then transported to Strabane in the summer and rebuilt in the Community Garden beside Church of the Immaculate Conception, so the local community can enjoy it.
