See below our section on Bible verse of the day and Saint of the week.
Bible Verse of the Day: 1 Timothy 2:1-8
My advice is that, first of all, there should be prayers offered for everyone โ petitions, intercessions and thanksgiving โ and especially for kings and others in authority, so that we may be able to live religious and reverent lives in peace and quiet. To do this is right, and will please God our saviour: he wants everyone to be saved and reach full knowledge of the truth. For there is only one God, and there is only one mediator between God and mankind, himself a man, Christ Jesus, who sacrificed himself as a ransom for them all. He is the evidence of this, sent at the appointed time, and I have been named a herald and apostle of it and โ I am telling the truth and no lie โ a teacher of the faith and the truth to the pagans. In every place, then, I want the men to lift their hands up reverently in prayer, with no anger or argument.
Weekly Saint : St. Joseph of Cupertino (1603-1663)
Today marks the Feast Day for St. Joseph of Cupertino, a Franciscan priest from the Kingdom of Naples whose deep love and gratitude for God manifested itself in extraordinary ways. Growing up, St. Joseph was considered a nuisance and slow to learn by his mother and those around him. He was treated harshly by his community for being absent-minded, and he was sent to join the Franciscans. However, with very little academic knowledge he still managed to join the order. As a Franciscan friar, he grew in humility and gentleness, and by his love and dedication for God he joined the priesthood.
St. Joseph's love for God, as previously mentioned, manifested in extraordinary ways. He was reported on many occasions to be levitating over the altar as he was saying Mass, much to the amazement of the laity. These miracles were but the fruit of the Holy Spirit working within St. Joseph and his deep love for God. St. Joseph of Cupertino is the Patron Saint of aviators and students who struggle with examinations. May St. Joseph's life be another example of how to live our lives according to Jesus Christ, regardless of the struggles that we face in our day to day.
St. Joseph of Cupertino, pray for us.
