Dunlaoghaire Presbyterian Church

Dunlaoghaire Presbyterian Church Church service at 11am every Sunday morning. All welcome. DPC (RCN 20206161) is a church in the Presbyterian Church In Ireland. It was built in 1863.

It was originally founded by Scottish people who came over to work in the building of the Dunlaoghaire harbour pier in the 1820's. Originally called Scots church it changed its name to Kingstown Presbyterian Church before the turn of the 1900's and changed it again to its present name in 1972. The current church building is our second official one. Before that the church met in the building across

the road which is now a fas training centre. Our current minister is Rev Clarke Deering. Clarke is married to Hazel. Clarke and Hazel have four children and six grandchildren. Presbyterians are known both for their strain of doctrine and their particular way of running the church. We believe that both are the best understanding of the faith handed to the apostles. Events in the Swiss reformation particularly those surrounding a Frenchman called John Calvin is where most Presbyterian doctrine comes from whilst the Presbyterian form of church government was developed during the Scottish reformation by a man called John Knox- himself greatly influenced by Mr Calvin.

📍Dun Laoghaire Presbyterian Church
In the heart of the town. At the center of the Kingdom.

For years, Dun Laoghaire Presbyterian Church has been a place of welcome, faith, and service — a beacon of hope in the community, reflecting Christ’s love in a tangible and consistent way.

But more than a building, the church is a living body. It’s about people. It’s about Christ. It’s about following the One who emptied Himself of all glory and dwelled among us — serving with compassion, truth, and grace.

Following Jesus means being part of something greater. It means walking together, lifting up the weary, being a voice in the silence, light in the valley of dry bones.

You are needed. Your life matters in the body of Christ.
God is still moving — in us and through us — always.

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
– 1 John 3:18

Yesterday we experienced one of the church's greatest virtues: collective work.

It was truly heartwarming to see the Dun Laoghaire Presbyterian community so engaged and serving together.

We were also blessed with the presence of Michael Briggs, who shared powerful insights on what it means to be the Church through mission. His words reminded us that faith is not just a belief, but a movement—a life lived in love and purpose.

As we begin a new week, may we carry with us the words of 1 John 3:18:
"Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."

May our love be visible.
May our faith be lived.
And may our community continue to grow in grace and service.

Have a blessed week! 🤍

Faith isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it just looks like continuing.

Faith doesn’t always sound like a cry or a song. Sometimes, it’s quiet—like someone who keeps walking even when they can’t see the whole road ahead.

There are days when trusting God doesn’t feel spiritual or powerful. It’s just showing up. Cooking lunch. Working. Praying silently on the bus. Doing the little things with a whole heart.

Faith is less about feeling and more about remaining.
Less about control, more about trust.

Hebrews reminds us:
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1)

True faith doesn’t deny tiredness, but it doesn’t surrender to it either. It holds on to God’s promises, even when nothing seems to confirm them.

You don’t need to feel it to believe.
You don’t need to understand to trust.

💭 May you remember today: continuing is also an act of faith.

🌿 Prayer
Lord, teach us to believe even when we don’t feel. Let our faith be more than emotion—let it be rest in You.

There is no fear in love.

Fear is often the result of doubts, uncertainties, or guilt, but God's love offers us grace and forgiveness. It frees us from the fear of punishment, showing that we have been reconciled with Him through Christ. Thus, we are called to live out this love.

God’s love makes fear unnecessary.
