We are delighted to share that Tiernan Burke of Whitechurch will be ordained to the priesthood for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cloyne on Sunday, 24th May, the Feast of Pentecost.

The Ordination Mass will take place in St Colman’s Cathedral at 3.00pm, and all are warmly welcome to attend this joyful and historic occasion for our diocese.

Please keep Tiernan in your prayers as he prepares for this special day and as he begins his priestly ministry in the service of God’s people.

Good Shepherd Sunday | World Day of Prayer for Vocations | 26th April 2026

Lord Jesus, Good Shepherd,

On this Good Shepherd Sunday — the World Day of Prayer for Vocations — we rejoice that You have called one of our own to serve Your people as a priest.

Today, as Deacon Stephen Sherry kneels before Bishop Larry Duffy at St. Macartan's Cathedral, we ask that You pour out Your Spirit upon him. You are the Shepherd who calls each soul by name — and Stephen has heard Your voice and said yes. What a gift that yes is to this diocese.

Make him a shepherd after Your own heart — courageous in truth, tender in mercy, faithful in prayer. May he feed Your flock with Word and Sacrament, bring Your healing to the broken, and walk closely with those entrusted to his care.

On this World Day of Prayer for Vocations, may his ordination stir something in the hearts of others across Clogher — young and old — to listen for Your call and respond with the same generosity.
