‘Suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind… and all of them were filled with the Holy Spirit.’ (Acts 2)

Today the Church celebrates Pentecost — or Whitsun — the great feast of the Holy Spirit and the birthday of the Church. This striking image captures the moment when the Spirit descended upon the apostles, transforming fear into courage and sending them out to proclaim the Gospel to the world.

We continue that ancient rhythm of prayer and praise today, joining Christians across the world in giving thanks for the Spirit’s guidance and renewal.

You are warmly invited to worship with us this Pentecost at 11:15 or 15:15. Tune into our live stream: https://www.stpatrickscathedral.ie/worship/livestream/

A remarkable piece of Dublin’s weaving heritage is currently on display at the Deanery Mews beside Saint Patrick's Cathedral as part of Culture Date with Dublin 8.

Examples of intricate jacquard silk weaving by the late Paddy Breathnach of Hamilton Street are featured in The Liberties Weavers pop up textile museum, celebrating the rich craft traditions of The Liberties.

Pictured are Paddy’s great grandson, Macdara Ferris, and his father Tom Ferris, proudly holding artefacts donated by the Breathnach family to the Heritage Weavers collection.

The Cathedral is also honoured to hold one of Paddy’s extraordinary creations in its own collection, a stunning 4,000 thread artwork made in 1973 and gifted personally to the Cathedral.
