Vegan Soc's response the SU President Grace McNally's statement about PBP's plant based policy.

DU Vegan Society is disappointed by the comments made by Student Union president Grace McNally about People Before Profit’s choice to go plant-based, released in the University Times during Green Week. It is harmful for someone in her position to perpetuate common misconceptions about veganism being “inaccessable”, “expensive”, and misaligning with varying “backgrounds, cultures, and financial situations”. We are fully in support of catering to the needs of all students, and with vegan food on campus being nowhere near the quality and availability of non-vegan options, one society’s choice to go plant-based is an inclusive act that enables vegetarian and vegan students while not excluding students that follow an omnivorous diet. McNally’s open disagreement with PBP’s new policy is a misguided use of influence which is damaging to the movement towards a more plant-based university. DU Vegan Society supports making sustainable, healthier and ethical dietary choices more accessible, and are saddened to see that these sentiments are not shared by a leading Student Union representative. We agree with and reaffirm every point of PBP’s response to Grace McNally.

Vegan Soc's response to SU President Grace McNally's statements on PBP's plant based policy:

DU Vegan Society is disappointed by the comments made by Student Union president Grace McNally about People Before Profit’s choice to go plant-based, released in the University Times during Green Week. It is harmful for someone in her position to perpetuate common misconceptions about veganism being “inaccessable”, “expensive”, and misaligning with varying “backgrounds, cultures, and financial situations”. DU Vegan Society fully supports catering to the needs of all students, and ensuring access to affordable meals on campus. Currently, vegan options on campus are much less varied and available than non-vegan options however they are still the cheaper options. PBP’s choice to go plant-based is an inclusive act that makes veganism and vegetarianism more accessible to students, while not excluding students that follow an omnivorous diet. We reaffirm every point of PBP’s response to Grace McNally.
