Leinster Pioneer Association Pioneer Total Abstinence Association of the Sacred Heart of Jesus - a spiritual response to the challenge of alcohol and addiction in society. Sullivan.

https://www.pioneers.ie/ The aim of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association of the Sacred Heart is the promotion of sobriety and temperance through

• faith and prayer,
• self-denial leading to inner freedom;
• setting beneficial example to others;
• presenting alternatives to the drinking scene, particularly to young people;
• advocating the ideals and values of temperance and sobriety in so

ciety. The duty of a Pioneer is to build a society where people live to their full potential. We reach out to those who suffer from alcohol-related harm. The Pioneer, like all Christians, is convinced that the love of God, as revealed in Jesus, is central to their lives. Pioneers are people who kindle the fire of God’s love in the hearts of others. The Pioneer Total Abstinence Association of the Sacred Heart was founded in 1898 in Gardiner Street, Dublin by Fr James Cullen SJ, Mrs Anne Egan, Miss Lizzie Power, Mrs Mary Bury and Mrs A.M. Their Association grew to become one of the most prominent Catholic movements in the first half of the twentieth century in Ireland. Source: https://www.pioneers.ie/

Today the Church celebrates the Feast of the Holy Trinity — Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Trinity reminds us that God is not distant, but a relationship of perfect love. Through the Father who created us, the Son who walks with us, and the Holy Spirit who guides us, we are invited to live in that same love each day.
As we begin this day, may we be inspired to love generously, choose kindness, and trust that God is with us in every step of the journey.

“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” (2 Corinthians 13:14)

This Sunday we celebrate the great Feast of Pentecost, the birthday of the Church, the Feast of God's Holy Spirit.

We think of the terrified disciples behind closed and locked doors and the Holy Spirit comes down upon them in a great manifestation of tongues of fire.

They are no longer afraid to proclaim Jesus Christ to the world and 3,000 are baptised that very day.

They also can now speak foreign languages reminding us how God's Holy Spirit of love unites people, builds bridges, brings only good things to this divided world.

We have received God's Holy Spirit ourselves at our baptisms and confirmations and we too are called to go out and proclaim Jesus to the world.

To tell the world of God's love, truth and mercy, and bring light into the world and to banish the darkness.

The Scriptures tell us that the more we are obedient to God the more His Spirit will be given to us.

Let us not be afraid to come closer to God and to allow His Spirit propel us forth to proclaim the Good News.
