Year of the Lord's Voice: Day 3 - Divine Direction

Welcome to Day 3 of our prayer and fasting period, focusing on seeking God's divine direction for success in 2025. Today, we'll explore three key Bible stories that offer guidance on seeking God's will and navigating life's challenges.

1. Jonah's Disobedience and Its Consequences (Jonah 1-4)

- Jonah's Flight and the Storm: "Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah, son of Amittai: 'Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because their wickedness has come up before me.'" (Jonah 1:1-2) However, Jonah disobeyed God and fled to Tarshish. "But the Lord sent out a great wind over the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up." (Jonah 1:4)
- Jonah's Confession and the Whale: "The sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they said to one another, 'Come, let us cast lots, that we may know on whose account this evil has come upon us.'" (Jonah 1:7) The lot fell on Jonah, and he confessed his disobedience. "So they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and the sea ceased from its raging." (Jonah 1:15) Jonah was swallowed by a large fish.
- Jonah's Repentance and God's Mercy: "Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish." (Jonah 2:1) God heard his prayer and commanded the fish to vomit Jonah onto dry land. "And the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, 'Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and proclaim to it the message that I tell you.'" (Jonah 3:1)

2. Joseph's Search for His Brothers (Genesis 37:12-36)

- Joseph's Search for His Brothers: "Then his father Israel said to him, 'Go now, see how your brothers and the flock are, and bring me word back.'" (Genesis 37:13) Joseph went searching for his brothers, but they had moved on. "He met a man in the field and asked him, 'Where are your brothers?'" (Genesis 37:16)
- God's Intervention and Reconciliation: Joseph's brothers, filled with jealousy, sold him into slavery. Years later, during a famine, they traveled to Egypt to buy food. Joseph, now a powerful official in Egypt, recognized his brothers, but initially tested them before revealing his identity. "Then Joseph said to his brothers, 'I am Joseph. Is my father still alive?'" (Genesis 45:3) God ultimately brought about reconciliation between Joseph and his brothers, saving his family and the people of Egypt from famine.

3. The Young Prophet and the Old Prophet (1 Kings 13)

- The Young Prophet's Obedience and God's Power: "The word of the Lord came to a man of God from Judah, who said to Jeroboam, 'This is what the Lord says: 'I am going to tear down the altar, and the ashes that are on it will be scattered. The high places will be destroyed.'" (1 Kings 13:2) God demonstrated His power through the young prophet, causing the altar to split and Jeroboam's hand to wither.
- The Old Prophet's Deception and Its Consequences: "Now there was a certain old prophet living in Bethel, whose sons came and told him all that the man of God had done there that day." (1 Kings 13:11) The old prophet, seeking to discredit the young prophet, lied to him, claiming an angel instructed him to bring the young prophet back to his house for a meal. "The old prophet said to him, 'I too am a prophet, as you are. And an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying, 'Bring him back with you into your house that he may eat bread and drink water.'" (1 Kings 13:18) The young prophet, believing the old prophet's lie, disobeyed God's command to not eat or drink in Bethel and was killed by a lion on his way home.

Additional Scriptures for Divine Direction and God's Wisdom

- Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
- Psalm 32:8: "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you."
- Psalm 23:3: "He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake."
- Jeremiah 33:3: "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."
- Isaiah 30:21: "And your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, โ€˜This is the way, walk in it,โ€™ whenever you turn to the right or to the left."
- John 14:6: "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"
- James 1:5: "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."

Fasting and prayer. Day 1

- Begin by acknowledging God's sovereignty and thanking Him for bringing you to the end of 2024. Mention the significance of reflecting on His blessings and faithfulness throughout the year.

Thanksgiving for Divine Protection:

- Scripture References & Verses:
- Psalm 91: "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, โ€œHe is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.โ€ Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence...For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways." (Psalm 91:1-2, 3, 11)
- Psalm 121: "I will lift up my eyes to the hillsโ€” From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth." (Psalm 121:1-2)
- Prayer Points:
- Thank God for His unwavering protection throughout 2024, shielding you from harm, accidents, and unforeseen circumstances, referencing the specific protection mentioned in Psalm 91 and 121.
- Acknowledge His presence as your refuge and strength, providing comfort and security in times of trouble, as described in Psalm 91:2.
- Ask for continued protection in the coming year, trusting in His promise of divine guardianship.

Thanksgiving for Divine Provision:

- Scripture References & Verses:
- Philippians 4:19: "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
- Matthew 6:25-34: "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, โ€˜What shall we eat?โ€™ or โ€˜What shall we drink?โ€™ or โ€˜What shall we wear?โ€™ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

- Prayer Points:
- Thank God for His abundant provision throughout 2024, mentioning specific examples of His provision in your life, in line with the promises in Philippians 4:19 and Matthew 6.
- Acknowledge His faithfulness in supplying your daily bread and providing beyond your expectations, reflecting on the teachings in Matthew 6.
- Ask for continued provision and wisdom in managing resources, trusting in God's guidance as outlined in Matthew 6.

Thanksgiving for Health:

- Scripture References & Verses:
- 3 John 1:2: "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
- Psalm 103:1-5: "Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,"
- Prayer Points:
- Thank God for His gift of good health throughout 2024, mentioning specific instances of His healing and preservation, aligning with the prayer in 3 John 1:2 and the healing mentioned in Psalm 103.
- Acknowledge His healing power and ask for continued strength and vitality, reflecting on the blessings in Psalm 103.
- Pray for healing for yourself and others who may be struggling with illness, trusting in God's power to heal as expressed in Psalm 103.

Covenant of Thanksgiving:

- Reaffirm your commitment to thank God daily for His blessings, both big and small. Express your desire to live a life of gratitude and appreciation.

Join the prayer room at 5pm.
