đź’ś Why Our Church Is Purple During Lent đź’ś

You may have noticed the beautiful purple colour around our church at the moment — on the altar cloths, vestments, and decorations. Purple (also called violet) isn’t just a lovely shade — it carries deep meaning in the Church’s life. ✨

Why purple?
Purple is the traditional liturgical colour for Lent, the season of prayer, fasting, and penance as we prepare our hearts for Easter. 💜 It reminds us of repentance, humility, and reflection, helping us focus on Jesus’ journey to the cross and the love behind His sacrifice.

In ancient times purple was a rare and costly dye — associated with royalty — and its use in church also points us to Christ as our King, even in His suffering.

How long will it stay?
We will continue to see purple throughout the season of Lent, from Ash Wednesday right up until Holy Thursday, when we enter the Easter Triduum with its range of colours and celebrations.

As we journey together through these holy weeks, let the colour you see around you help draw your heart deeper into prayer, sacrifice, and joyful anticipation of Easter. 🙏

🌿 Adoration & Stations of the Cross – Fridays in Lent 🌿

This morning at 10:00 am, after Mass and the Rosary, we held our first Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament for Lent—what a blessing to begin this time of prayer together!

This evening at 6:00 pm we will continue with the Stations of the Cross, followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

All are warmly welcome to join us in prayer and reflection.

📖✨ Walking with Christ This Lent ✨📖

During this holy season of Lent 2026, our parish is inviting everyone to deepen their prayer life and grow closer to Jesus through Walk with Me: A Journey of Prayer. 🙏

As you walk your own Lenten journey with this prayer book, we invite you to reflect, pray, and give generously so that we can share God’s love in a tangible way.

📸 Here is our Lent 2026 prayer book — a perfect companion for your daily prayer and reflection.
➡️ Let’s pray together, give what we can, and make a real difference this Lent.

🙏 Thank You for Joining Us on Ash Wednesday 🙏

Tonight we marked Ash Wednesday, the beginning of our Lenten journey, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came to both of the Masses.

It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, and to gather together in prayer and reflection as a parish community.

May this season of Lent be a time of grace, peace, and spiritual renewal for each of us. ✨

God bless you all!

🌿 Lenten Campaign with Trócaire – Supporting Families in Rwanda 🌿

This Lent, Dolphin’s Barn Parish is proud to take part in the Trócaire Lenten Campaign, walking with our global family in solidarity and hope.

This year, the campaign focuses on a family in rural Rwanda, where a young mother and her extended family are working hard to build a better future. Through your generous support, we’re helping them repair their home, making it safer and more secure — a place of dignity and peace.

✨ Your kindness can truly make a difference! Every contribution — big or small — brings us closer to our goal and helps transform lives. 🙏
📍 You can donate through our parish Trócaire boxes, at the parish office, or online via trocaire.org or via scanning the QR code.

Let’s journey through Lent with compassion, prayer, and generosity — sharing Christ’s love with those who need it most. ❤️

🌿 Today is Ash Wednesday — Lent Begins! ✝️

Today marks the beginning of Lent, the holy season of prayer, fasting, and reflection as we prepare our hearts for Easter. 🙏 During Lent, we are called to grow closer to God through deeper prayer, self‑discipline, and acts of charity. ✨ The ashes we receive today remind us of our human fragility and our need for God’s mercy — especially when we hear:
🕊️ “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

🕯 Mass with Distribution of Ashes — Today:
🕙 10:00 am — with ashes imposed after Mass
🕖 7:00 pm — with ashes imposed after Mass

Come and receive the ashes as a sign of repentance and spiritual renewal. Today we begin this special journey together — a time to reflect, repent, and prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter. 🌅

🌹 Happy St Valentine’s Day! 🌹

Today, we celebrate St Valentine, a courageous Christian who reminds us that love is at the heart of our faith. đź’›

St Valentine’s life inspires us to love selflessly, kindly, and faithfully — in our families, friendships, and community. This is a day to reflect on the ways we can share God’s love with others, not just in words, but in actions. 🙏

✨ Let’s take a moment to send a kind word, offer a helping hand, or simply show someone they are valued. Small acts of love can make a big difference!

📖 “Let all that you do be done in love.” – 1 Corinthians 16:14

💌 Happy Valentine’s Day! May your day be filled with joy, kindness, and love.
