💜 Why Our Church Is Purple During Lent 💜

You may have noticed the beautiful purple colour around our church at the moment — on the altar cloths, vestments, and decorations. Purple (also called violet) isn’t just a lovely shade — it carries deep meaning in the Church’s life. ✨

Why purple?
Purple is the traditional liturgical colour for Lent, the season of prayer, fasting, and penance as we prepare our hearts for Easter. 💜 It reminds us of repentance, humility, and reflection, helping us focus on Jesus’ journey to the cross and the love behind His sacrifice.

In ancient times purple was a rare and costly dye — associated with royalty — and its use in church also points us to Christ as our King, even in His suffering.

How long will it stay?
We will continue to see purple throughout the season of Lent, from Ash Wednesday right up until Holy Thursday, when we enter the Easter Triduum with its range of colours and celebrations.

As we journey together through these holy weeks, let the colour you see around you help draw your heart deeper into prayer, sacrifice, and joyful anticipation of Easter. 🙏

🙏 Thank You for Joining Us on Ash Wednesday 🙏

Tonight we marked Ash Wednesday, the beginning of our Lenten journey, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came to both of the Masses.

It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, and to gather together in prayer and reflection as a parish community.

May this season of Lent be a time of grace, peace, and spiritual renewal for each of us. ✨

God bless you all!

🌿 Lenten Campaign with Trócaire – Supporting Families in Rwanda 🌿

This Lent, Dolphin’s Barn Parish is proud to take part in the Trócaire Lenten Campaign, walking with our global family in solidarity and hope.

This year, the campaign focuses on a family in rural Rwanda, where a young mother and her extended family are working hard to build a better future. Through your generous support, we’re helping them repair their home, making it safer and more secure — a place of dignity and peace.

✨ Your kindness can truly make a difference! Every contribution — big or small — brings us closer to our goal and helps transform lives. 🙏
📍 You can donate through our parish Trócaire boxes, at the parish office, or online via trocaire.org or via scanning the QR code.

Let’s journey through Lent with compassion, prayer, and generosity — sharing Christ’s love with those who need it most. ❤️
