CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST WITH REOPENING OF ST MICHAEL'S

A Chairde,
We are looking forward to reopening for weekend masses from Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of July at St Michael's.
Daily mass will begin from 29th June.

PARISH TEAMS
In order to be permitted to reopen for liturgy, we are required by the Diocese to put together Parish teams of voluntary Stewards and Cleaners who will assist in that happening - without such teams we will not be allowed re-open for weekend masses.

Stewards will be required to show people, the entry and exit doors and routes from the church and also where to go when inside.

Those who volunteer will be required to attend a meeting in the days prior to reopening in order to run through the logistics. This will be held during the week of Monday 29th - Friday 3rd. ( day and time to be confirmed).

Stewards will also be required to be at the church 30 minutes before hand especially over the first two weekends while people adjust to the new dispensation. ( This prior time will be reduced as the faith community get to know the ropes).

Cleaners will be required to stay back after mass and clean the pews and the toilets. And also to ensure hand-sanitisers are visible and filled etc. They will also be asked to attend a meeting in the days prior to our first weekend masses. This will be held during the week of Monday June 29th - Friday July 3rd. ( day and time to be confirmed).

COMPILING A LIST OF STEWARDS and CLEANERS

Myself and Fr Louis are, therefore, compiling a list of volunteer stewards and cleaners for our parish. Your help would be most appreciated.

We will manage the list for each month ahead. So for now we are concentrating on Month One which includes the following weekends:

July 4th - 5th
July 11th -12th
July 18th -19th
July 25th - 26th

Each mass has to be catered for otherwise we cannot hold it.

So here is what we need from you if you can help please.

1) Can you be a steward or a cleaner or both?

2) Which mass or masses can you commit to over the above July weekends?
Please indicate in your response whether it would be for the mass at
Sat 6.30pm Sun 9am Sun 11am ( one / two or all three masses ).

PLEASE let us know at this email before Monday June 22nd.
[email protected]

Many of you have already been contributing voluntarily to St Michael's for many years. Fr Louis and all at the Parish very much appreciate all you do. Any extra assistance you can give us now while we gather together again - would be most appreciated please. Once we return for masses we will then seek more volunteers to help - at the various masses - from the altar.
We will also be looking for volunteers via our next newsletter.

Please God ' all manner of things will be most well' . It will be good to be ' Together Again'!

Looking forward to hearing from you,
And I hope you are enjoying the fine weather.

Le mór mheas agus le gach buíochas,

Pádraigín Clancy, Pastoral Worker, St Michael's Parish Inchicore.

Beannacht na Féile Cholm Cille Oraibh! One of the Patron's of Ireland. A Towering figure among our early monastic ancestors. Responsible for the spreading of Christianity in Ireland( Derry, Swords, Durrow etc) and Britain( Iona, Northumbria) and as a result Europe. Responsible for first early illumined manuscripts which were produced at his foundations such as. ' Book of Kells' at Iona or ' The Book of Durrow' or the ' Cathach'. Responsible for first High Crosses - still standing on Iona. Possibly responsible for the spread of Christianity at all in so far as he was a ' poet' and a priest and led the agreement with the Poets of Ireland regarding the new religion at the 6th C Convention at Drumcet.
Colm Cille ( Columba) is remembered all over Ireland. His feast day( June 9) is marked especially in coastal areas. These pictures are from Inis Mór, Aran Islands, Galway where islanders pilgrim and pray at ' Altóir and Tobar Cholm Cille'.
Go mbeirimd beo ar an am seo arís!
