UPDATE: Augustinian Pilgrimage in Italy
The pilgrim group organized by Fr Declan Brennan, OSA is still in Italy for their last day of pilgrimage as they are expected to be back to Ireland by tonight.
A few churchgoers from The Augustinian in Drogheda went with him to visit some Augustinian pilgrim sites like the Sanctuary of St. Rita of Cascia where they were given a quite substantive input about St. Rita by no less than the Filipino Augustinian Friar currently assigned in Cascia, Fr. Oswald Duran, OSA, who coincidentally, happens to be Fr. Roner's teacher in literature back in the Philippines when he was just a college seminarian. The teacher and student are now brothers in the Augustinian Province of Santo Niño de Cebu and are both assigned for mission abroad, Cascia and Ireland respectively.
A short visit was also done to the basilica of St Clare of Montefalco, another Augustinian saint, where the Drogheda Friars' black cat "Monte" was named after by the then Prior.
The visit continued in many other places around Italy and, of course, cannot be missed the opportunity to have a face to face encounter with the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, who also happens to be an Augustinian.
Sounds like the trip was a moment of experience and grace for these Augustinian Pilgrims from Ireland to Rome and back.
Deo Gratias!
