The Honan Chapel

The Honan Chapel, the Roman Catholic Collegiate Church of St. Finbarr is located on the Campus of UCC (University College Cork).

Opened in 1916 it is a shining jewel of the Hiberno Romanesque style born of the Celtic Style revival of the 1900's Mass times in term: Sunday 12 noon, weekdays Mon - Fri 1.05pm
Morning prayer: Monday-Friday 8.45am-8.55am
Holy Hour with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and the opportunity for the Sacrament of Confession: Wednesdays 1.30pm - 2.30pm
Taize prayer every Tuesday at 6pm

CATHOLIC SOCIETY

Our new Honan Catholic Society will be open for student members from the beginning of January. Keep your eyes peeled for their stall in front of the Honan Chapel. There will be a packed and exciting programme of activities for the rest of the term that will help you deepen your knowledge of the Faith, make loads of new friends and deepen your own spiritual life in the Lord. New appointments for 2014:
Fr David Barrins O.P. takes up the post of interim head of UCC chaplaincy from 1st January.

Fr Tom Forde OFM Cap takes up the post of assistant Catholic chaplain from January 1st.
May God bless their apostolates in the Honan and UCC.

Holy Mass will resume for weekdays in the Honan for the new term in 2014 on Monday, January 6th at 1.05pm
Our first Sunday Mass will take place on Sunday, January 12th at 12 noon.

Our Youth 2000 prayer meeting will resume on Tuesday, January 7th at 6.15pm. Don't miss the beautiful time gathered with other students before Our Lord present in the Blessed Sacrament for prayer, meditation and singing. Tea, coffee and good things to eat after.

Your prayers are requested as we welcome the arrival of Fr Tom Forde OFM Cap who will begin as assistant Catholic Chaplain from January 1st
The new interim head of UCC chaplaincy from January 1st will be Fr David Barrins O.P. May God bless their apostolates in the Honan and UCC abundantly.

Don't forget that there will be Midnight Mass for christmas on Christmas Eve night in the Honan Chapel. The sacred music for the occasion will be provided by our friends in Cor Cois Abhann. Everyone is very welcome.

Weekday Mass at 1.05pm will continue in the Honan for this calendar year until this Friday 20th December.
Our last Sunday Mass for this term at 12 noon will take place this Sunday, 15th December.
There will be midnight Mass at 12 midnight on Christmas Eve. The music will be provided by the wonderful musicians of Cor Cois Abhann choir

Many thanks to UCC Choral Society for a really wonderful three nights of carols by candlelight in the Honan. It has really put everyone who attended into the Christmas spirit.

The Honan Catholic Society and UCC chaplaincy and delighted to welcome Bishop Athanasius Schenieder who will launch his new book "Corpus Christi - Holy Communion and the renewal of the Church". Bishop Schneider is a noted preacher, writer and Bishop and he will celebrate Holy Mass in the Honan this Saturday 30th November at 11am. All welcome.
