Our young people have done something special this Lent. They set out to complete 200 acts of kindness, and they’ve done it through different day to day and organised activities, such as a local kindness scavenger hunt, their weekly singing in the community, and countless small everyday acts that continue to light up the hearts of so many people. As they pay attention to our neighbours, our community, and even the beauty of nature around us, they continue to show that simple kindness can transform ordinary days. Let’s keep cheering them on and praying that they continue to be a bright light wherever they go.

We are very proud of each of them!

This weekend, we step into Holy Week, the holiest days of our year, a time not only to remember what Jesus has done for us, but allow his love make something new in us.

This week, we are invited to plant a Resurrection garden in our hearts.

A real garden does not appear in a moment. It grows because someone chooses, again and again, to plant, to water, to return. In the same way, our hearts are shaped by the simple, faithful choices we make each day.

So this week, we plant with purpose:

Plant appreciation of nature, seeing in every leaf, sky, and birdsong the quiet touch of God’s hand.

Plant fidelity to prayer, showing up to speak and to listen, even when it feels small, ordinary, or hard.

Plant joy in the promise of the Resurrection, trusting that, with Christ, no darkness is final and no tomb is the end.

Plant hope for a peaceful world, believing that every act of kindness, every word of mercy, is a real seed of change.

Plant gratitude for God’s gifts, from the breath in our lungs to the people we love and the grace we do not see.

What we choose to plant now will shape how we stand before the empty tomb.

Let us tend this garden together, gently and faithfully, so that when the stone is rolled away, our hearts are not tired or distant, but awake and ready, alive with hope, bright with joy, and overflowing with love.

We invite you to join in our Holy Week ceremonies.

20/03/2026

We are approaching the heart of our Lenten journey, and the focus shifts to how we show up for our faith and our community. In the fourth and fifth weeks, we are invited to “cultivate the turnips”. This is a call to active presence. It is one thing to plant intentions, but it is another to consistently bring them to life by being present where it matters most.

As a community, we are now focusing on the ways we can “turn up” for God and one another. It is about moving from intention to action, ensuring our faith is visible in our presence. So our prayer is:

Turn up for Mass to find strength in the Eucharist and in each other.

Turn up with a smile to be a source of light for someone having a hard day.

Turn up with compassion for those who are struggling or feeling alone.

Turn up with gratitude for the small blessings we often take for granted.

Turn up with love in every interaction, mirroring the heart of Christ.

Showing up is the most sincere way to tend to the garden of the soul. We do this work now so that when the stone is finally rolled away, our hearts are not distant or cold. We will have a garden ready to welcome the Resurrected Lord at Easter.

Join us on the journey each week. Saturday Mass at 7pm, and Sunday morning at 9.30am and 11.30am.

We are moving into the middle of our journey, where the work in our Lenten garden changes. For the third and fourth weeks of Lent, we stop looking at what we are planting and start looking at what we need to take away. To give the good things in our hearts room to grow, we have to do the hard work of clearing out the mess.

As a community, we are now focusing on the “weeds”, the bad habits that grow quickly and quietly, stealing our peace and stopping us from being our best selves. It is time to pull them up by the roots. So our prayer is:

W**d out gossip so we can use our words to be kind and help others instead.

W**d out laziness so we can find the energy to do the things that truly matter.

W**d out indifference so we stop looking away and start caring for those in need.

W**d out pride so we can remember that we all need God’s help every single day.

W**d out judgment because we don't always know the hard times other people are going through.

A garden is beautiful when it is kept clean and cared for. We do this work now so that when Easter morning comes, our hearts aren't full of distractions. We will have a garden ready to welcome the Resurrected Lord.

Join us on the journey each week. Saturday Mass at 7pm, and Sunday morning at 9.30am and 11.30am.

In collaboration with our Care for our Earth ministry, our parish Youth Group has pledged to complete at least 200 acts of kindness by Easter.

This initiative challenges our young people to exemplify compassion within their home, community, and the natural world. Here is a glimpse into the heartfelt pledges they have made (they have collectively signed up for 50 this week!)

Caring for our Home & Family

Support at Home: Helping Nanny with housework, washing the dishes after dinner, and bringing down the laundry.

Family Harmony: Being kind to siblings, playing with them every day, and avoiding arguments with parents.

Acts of Service: Taking siblings to their clubs and helping “Mam” around the house

Caring for Community & Others

Building Connections: Starting full conversations with someone new and talking to five people they wouldn’t normally approach.

Daily Kindness: Holding doors open, sharing treats, and offering compliments to others.

Spreading Joy: Writing and sharing joyful poems or drawing pictures for loved ones. Sharing our musical gifts.

Caring for the Earth & Environment

Stewardship: Actively picking up litter and rubbish in the community.

Nature Connection: Going on nature walk; specifically pledging to leave the phone behind, taking notice and feeding the birds.

Caring for Self & Personal Growth

Healthy Habits: Giving up energy drinks, getting to sleep earlier, and prioritizing school attendance.

Mindful Living: Playing less on games consoles and choosing water over sugary drinks.

Positive Attitude: Pledging to avoid “bad looks” and showing kindness even to those they find it difficult to get along with.

We look forward to seeing the ripple effect of these 200 deeds as we journey toward Easter! They inspire us!

Lent does not just have to be about giving things up, it can also be about growing something new. We begin with a cross and a quiet patch of dirt, knowing that the people we want to be by Easter morning don’t just appear. We plant the seeds and show up to tend them.

As a community, for the first two weeks, we are focusing on the “lettuce” of the soul, the basic, everyday ways we show up for God and each other. It’s a simple reminder to check our hearts. So our prayer is:

Let us be faithful when it’s easier to be distracted.

Let us be loyal to the people who need us most.

Let us be unselfish with our time and our patience.

Let us be truthful, even when the honesty is uncomfortable.

Let us be gentle because everyone is carrying a heavy load.

We do this now so that when the stone is finally rolled away, our hearts are not empty. We will have a garden ready to welcome the Resurrected Lord.
