I can't emphasise enough how much I need to be rooted in the presence, mind and Spirit of Christ Jesus. Without deliberately acknowledging and engaging in his presence life become cold, sterile and empty really fast even if you’re going through the motions. Without his mind and wisdom I become lost even if looking all together I am falling lose at the seams and without his Spirit, that is the Spirit of Christ in, with and through me, I become fruitless, lacking love, lacking joy, lacking peace, lacking patience, lacking kindness, lacking goodness and lacking self-control.

I know no other way to best become rooted in his presence, mind and Spirit than the way of Psalm One. To intentional take my heart and mind away from outside and worldly influences and instead sit at the feet of Jesus reading and praying (active conversation of the heart) over his word. Repenting it over and over throughout the day. Letting it feed me, settle me, cleanse me, change me and orientate me. It is here rooted in him that I become a tree that bears fruit as one that is planted beside still waters.

Don't expect non-christians to behave as christian (yes they are still held accountable by God), don't expect new christians to behave like mature christians and don't even expect mature christians to always walk in perfection. Develop the ability to call people forward even in with strong unflinching voice motivated by deep love beyond being liked. While always keeping an unoffended forgiving heart rejoicing and celebrating each new step forward, each new sign of growth and each new bud of christlikeness. Believe both for yourself and those who you serve that as you stay rooted in Christ and humbly yielding to his Spirit you and they will over time bud, blossom and bear fruit, fruit that lasts.

Some may think we should stay out of politics etc... and there is some wisdom in that, as our focus is in proclaiming the good news of Jesus.

But when we see injustice, cruelty, lack of understanding the christian worldview or when there's a need for the prophetic voice to power, society and even the church body. Then we need to speak up with clarity and boldness. In our worldview babies both in and outside the womb matter, life matters and the dignity of every human being. The whole area and issue of ending life through abortion and especially that of the most vulnerable and voiceless is a matter for all fellow humans, how much more so those who call on Christ Jesus as Saviour and Lord - it is for such he died. Should we fist not try save the lives of those around us both physically and spiritually, in our sphere of influence before we try save those far afield? It is for the Christian a matter we are to speak into and where possible vote, even if it saves just one.

This is our advert on current series on the Great Commission and Empowerment by the Holy Spirit (It is Phase 2 on the Commitment to Great Commission) . At Good News Church we have a discipleship track based on ABCD, C being our call to commit to Christ especially in four major areas:
1 Commitment to Christ and His Church in Membership
2 Commitment to Christ and His Character in Maturity
3 Commitment to Christ and His Calling in Ministry (servanthood and SHAPE)
4 Commitment to Christ and his Great Commission in Mission
This fourth area of commitment is broken down into 3 units, the first unit being that of evangelism, the second unit empowered evangelism and the third unit discipleship in the local church. (This bridge to the next level D in our discipleship path)

I hope you engage with these series and are blessed in your walk with Christ Jesus, and especially with this current phase of being commissioned and empowered. We will look at the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, Baptism in the Spirit, Gifts of the Spirit such as speaking in tongues, healing, words of knowledge etc... amd casting out demons. It won't be a deep dive into these subject matters but enough hopeful to get you going believing you can minister to others in the power of the Holy Spirit and the authority of Jesus Christ and his kingdom.

If you haven't already I would highly recommend that you view the entire series of Commitment to the Great Commision in its broadcast order.
