🎶 St Colman’s Cathedral Cobh to Celebrate the Music of Fr Liam Lawton 🎶
A special concert to honour more than 30 years of Liam Lawton’s contribution to liturgical music.
St Colman’s Cathedral in Cobh is proud to present a very special concert celebrating the music of renowned composer and long-standing friend of the Cathedral, Fr Liam Lawton.
The concert will take place in the magnificent surroundings of St Colman’s Cathedral on Friday 2nd October at 7.30pm, bringing together the Cathedral choirs and live musicians under the direction of Mr Dominic Finn (Director of Music at St Colman’s Cathedral).
For more than 30 years, Liam’s compositions have formed an important part of liturgical celebrations throughout the Diocese of Cloyne, with St Colman’s Cathedral having a particularly close connection to his music.
His work has become familiar to generations of church musicians, parishioners and worshippers, adding a distinctive musical and spiritual dimension to so many celebrations across the Diocese and indeed the country.
The evening will offer an opportunity to hear many of Liam’s best-loved compositions performed by the Cathedral choirs and musicians, while recognising his outstanding contribution to liturgical music and the lasting influence his work has had on the life of the Church.
Director of Music, Mr Dominic Finn said:
“It is a great privilege for us here at St Colman’s Cathedral to present this special concert in honour of Fr Liam Lawton. Liam has been a dear friend to us all in the Cathedral for many years, and his music has been woven into the fabric of our liturgical life here since the 1990’s.
It is wonderful to be able to bring our choirs and musicians together for this special evening. It will be a fitting tribute to Liam and to the remarkable contribution he has made through his music, and I hope people from Cobh, across the Diocese and beyond will join us for what promises to be a memorable occasion.”
