Something has to be said about this Valley! You couldn't have prayed for worse weather than we got on Sunday, yet hundreds turned out for our first Corpus Christi procession in decades. Soaked to the bone, we ran the foreseen route through Lios Mhuire (where we had a special moment of silence and blessing in recognition of our late and much-missed Margaret Daly), then down Main Street, stopping at the first altar of repose. From the community centre we made our way, accompanied by bagpipes and singing, to Fr. Sheehy's Terrace, where we had our second altar of repose. What detail and décor went into setting up the altars, not to mention all of the parishioners who had little altars in their windows. When we ended up in the church, people were packed to the rafters. Some even had to go home for lack of space. Fair play to Linda and Tom, who accompanied the O'Donoghue family in a beautiful trad session under the marquee. We love this Valley! A huge thanks to all of you. It really meant a lot.
