Pope Leo has released his first encyclical Magnificia Humanitas.

It looks at safeguarding the human person in the time of artifical intelligence. It deals with the human person, the internet and AI as positive tools which can be abused, new forms of slavery, the normalisation of war and the avoidance of personal discomfort, and much more. We are all just starting to read it now and much more will be said in time.

I offer a few snippets to interest you but recommend we take time to listen, read in full and discern what is being offered to us all. We need this conversation to happen and we need to be part of it:

"233. ... In Christ, we are called to cooperate in the work of creation, rather than be disinterested observers of technological processes that limit our freedom and responsibility.
The dignity inscribed in each of us by the Holy Spirit can also be seen in our capacity to reflect critically, choose and love freely, and form authentic relationships.
No computational system, however sophisticated, can create a heart that gives itself, or a conscience that discerns good from evil.
Even when machines excel in efficiency, a human face that asks to be gazed upon remains the center of our history.
This human face is the fullness toward which history is moving. .."
..Let us remain faithful to the truth (237)
Let us invest in education, beginning with ourselves (238)
Let us cultivate relationships (239)
Let us love justic and peace (240)
Let us be weavers of hope (245) ...

You can watch back todays launch, including Pope Leos words here:

You can read the whole document here (don't be afraid of it, read it in pieces like you'd read any short book. Its legible and relevant).

On Pentecost (excerpt)

Reveal to us the pulse of your fire
in each of our hearts

—Christine Valters Paintner, PhD, A Book of Everyday Blessings: 100 Prayers for Dancing Monks, Artists, and Pilgrims

Take time today to listen to pulse of the Spirit’s fire within you—where does it lead you?

It has been a challenging week for all of us in Ireland.
Theres plenty of anger, of silencing, of hurt.
How do we proceed?

As followers of Jesus, the Christ, how will be true disciples of the Nazarene in this time - what is God calling us to?

How will we challenge the sins of racism, christian nationalism and colonialism, while also listening respectfully and recognising each person as a child of God. Can we move beyond winning arguments into supporting, healing and communicating as communities.
Yes, we can do it together.

There are conversations we need to have.
Together.
With Clarity and with Kindness.

Lets not retreat into fear and silence now, into whatsapp posts instead of face to face conversations. Into walls instead of bridges or shared tables.

Not because we have all the answers, but because we Christians are called to build a safe and beautiful world for every person.
This is the Hope of the Ressurection.
This is the Kingdom come.
That we are, and we live, as One.
All belong here.

From our 2017 album, "All Belong Here," this song is a new kind of call to communion, a call to remember who we are, and how much we are loved, a song that s...

We stand in solidarity and in prayer with the family and community of Yves Sakila, who died in Dublin this week.

As Christians we reject the racism that suggests that a black person born in Ireland cannot be a Rose, that people by virtue of skin colour are problematic or that warning people to be afraid of others by skin colour, is normal and not racist.

From Clare, we join with the community in Ireland, by offering our prayers and by lighting a candle of solidarity between 12 and 2pm today.

We invite all to join us.
In solidarity, in an examination of conscience and in a commitment to concrete anti racist action in every community this summer.

Last Monday we had our latest women's group gathering in FCJ Spirituality House, Spanish Point.
Over 20 of us gathered. We remembered our experiences of May altars, processions and grottos. We each made a flower posy with petitions and prayers included. Then we sang 'bring flowers of the rarest' as we processed into a gentle prayer space.

Thanks to all who participated, organised, sang, shared stories or created. It was a very special evening for us all.

A special thanks to Rita's mother who loaned us her 1950s statue. It's still in the house and creates beautiful conversations with other visiting groups as they too remember and share their love of Mary.
