Dear Friends,

From everyone at Dzogchen Beara, we would like to extend to you and your family, warm wishes for Christmas and the New Year!

Thank you for all your support over this last decade!

Every one of us accumulated the greatest merit in building the temple and stupa! Lets really rejoice :)

This post will probably be the last one on this page. But, this page will remain as a record and celebration of the planning, visualisation, work and absolute joy in accomplishing this historic project.

Thank you for following the entire process.

We will now post regular updates on our main Dzogchen Beara Buddhist Meditation Centre page.

Over the next 6 months we will be directing a lot of energy to the main shrine room to install the structural pillar decoration and all the mantras on to the beams. We will also gold leaf and landscape the stupa.

We also have many surprises up our sleeve in many different ways over the next 2 years! Watch this space (or our main page to be more precise :)

There is still perhaps another 4 years of work to finish the sacred art. We will share all progress and also how you can support that sacred work.

Thank you,

The Dzogchen Beara Temple Team 🙏

As our last instalment on the building of the stupa, rather than using photos, you can now watch it in full including the consecration in this relatively short video!

We will gold leaf and landscape next Spring when the weather is more favourable!

Thanks. We built this together!

Before they were installed in the stupa, Rinpoche spent a full day in the temple practicing and blessing several thousand tsa-tsa's.

A tsa-tsa is a small molded piece that contains relics and is beautifully decorated by five coloured stupas that are painted on.

These were then placed into the stupa in many layers to fill the throne up completely.

The granite throne cap was then installed on this and into that was placed many sacred texts of the lineage such as the collected works of Longchen Rabjam and Jamyang Khyentse Chokyi Lodro. Also a very special text from Terton Sogyal Lerab Lingpa.

This creates the tendrel or interdependent circumstances for the centre and those connected to always follow this great lineage!

Many more treasure vases and tsa-tsa were also joyfully placed here.

Following this, the next level of granite was brought up and inside this a marvellous plexiglass case was placed. This case is one of the most important pieces in the stupa. It contains many sacred and blessed items including mandalas that bring 'liberation upon seeing'.

As the last piece of granite for that day went on, a rainbow appeared as a sign that the blessings of the lineage are ever present :)

We're nearly finished this journey through photos. We will then share a video bringing in closer to this labour of love!

Continuing on the construction of the stupa ...

On day three, the morning began with a huge sun rainbow!

While Rinpoche held some spiritual practices in the temple, Copmac from Bantry installed the scaffolding.

Once that was completed, Rinpoche led the community in filling the throne of the stupa.

For a few hours many, many scrolls of mantras were passed along from one person to another, right up the scaffold and into the throne, totalling several million different precious mantras of various deities and enlightened activities such as prayers of auspiciousness.

Many treasure vases were placed inside. These are an ancient remedy which can restore vitality and balance to the essence of the elements–earth, air, fire, water and space—that have been depleted by the pollutants and poisons in the environment. It has the power to magnetize wealth and abundance, improve health, remove obstacles to long life, pacify anger and warfare, and increase wisdom and compassion for all.

Not one bit of space was left between the scrolls and all the treasure vases. This was achieved by filling those tiny spaces with semi precious stones and silica sand.

At the end of the day, the stupa was weather proofed until the next day.

On the 2nd day of construction, the team installed levels 2 to 5.

They stopped at this level to wait for Tulku Rigdzin Pema Rinpoche who would arrive to begin the installation of the most important part of a stupa which is what it contains. (We will have a look at a stupa's contents in our next post.)

As the construction happened, the granite would be constantly washed down as the mortar from the joints would have stained the stone. So everyone kept a vigilant eye and the sponge and water nearby!

And again, all the stone had to be and was completely level. Even a hair of a milimetre out at the bottom would have had huge effects above. But Brian and his lads were as always, spot on 👍🏻

As requested by Tulku Rigdzin Pema Rinpoche, the team began to move stone into place for the foundation stones of the stupa.

The community gathered outside the gates to practice Riwo Sangchö (Mountain Smoke Offering).

Each of the foundation stones weighs 4.6 tonnes. After moving into place and not only making them level but making sure they were completely spot on, the joints were then installed.

The Dzogchen Beara community held the sacred space inside the temple by practicing Rigdzin D**a and also helped with the preparation of the sacred contents.

Throughout the week of construction many auspicious signs arose in the sky. In the morning, a sun rainbow appeared and many other rainbows during the day and into the evening 🙏🏻

Yesterday, under the most auspicious signs in the sky, the Dzogchen Beara Temple Stupa was consecrated by Tulku Rigdzin Pema Rinpoche and the Rigpa Sangha!

It took 7 days to build. It took many, many months of meticulous planning. The sacred items inside took years to be made!

Thank you all who made this possible.

Over the next 2 weeks we will share how it was built step by step.

You can still sponsor the stupa as it still needs to be gold leafed and then landscaped 🙏🏻

Lots of planning, meetings, phone calls, messages happening at the moment .... tomorrow three weeks, we begin the stupa construction!

It is said that a stupa which has been consecrated and energised by the relics of the Buddha, is no longer a man-made monument but a sacred entity that can bestow blessings and amplify the potentiality of benefits, restore positive conditions for anyone who sponsor its construction, sees it, touches it, circumambulates it, or hears the breeze that blows by it.

In terms of the size of the stupa to be erected, as the sutras state, just to build a stupa in a size as small as a myrobalan seed will enable one to temporarily take rebirth as a chakravartin ruler possessing inconceivable wealth and happiness and ultimately to attain Buddhahood in a short period of time. The merit of erecting a large stupa of fine quality will be even more inconceivable.

Such being the case, if you make a generous donation to the construction of a stupa, it goes without saying that the merit accrued will be extremely vast. Even a small donation equivalent to the amount of one percent of your food consumed in the three meals of one day will generate the merit that enables one not to be born as poor or displeasing but rather to always enjoy a pleasing appearance and material abundance life after life—and before too long to attain buddhahood.

Tomorrow is the holy Wheel Day of Chökhor Düchen, the 'Festival of Turning the Wheel of Dharma'.

For seven weeks after his enlightenment, Buddha did not teach. Finally, encouraged by Indra and Brahma, he turned the Wheel of Dharma for the first time, at Sarnath, by teaching the ‘Four Noble Truths’.

On this day, all acts are multiplied by ten million and tomorrow is the last Wheel Day before the stupa will be built!

Here is Tulku Rigdzin Pema Rinpoche applying many blessed mantras to the sokshying.

This is known as the ‘life-force tree’. These are wooden pieces cut from fruit-bearing trees, according to the ancient art of Tibetan geomancy. They are then carved, painted and inscribed with many mantras.

They are then blessed by the attachment of many holy relics of all the masters of the past.

At the very top of the sokshying will be a three inch stupa and inside this will be a relic of Buddha Shakyamuni 🙏🏻
