💙💛 WILLIE WALSH – A LASTING LEGACY 💙💛

From everyone at Carrigaline United AFC, we invite all members of the club and wider community to join us on Saturday June 13th at approximately 12:15pm in Ballea Park as we unveil a permanent memorial to the late Willie Walsh.

Willie’s contribution to Carrigaline United AFC and to football in our community can never truly be measured. His passion, dedication, kindness and commitment left a lasting impact on generations of players, coaches, volunteers and families throughout the club.

The Walsh family will be present for the unveiling and we would encourage all coaches, players, members and friends of the club to attend as we come together to honour and remember a man who will never be forgotten.

Thank you Willie, for everything. 💙💛

Sunday Homily - What does Corpus Christi mean for us today in 2026?

Sunday Homily - What does Corpus Christi mean for us today in 2026?

Today we celebrate Corpus Christi. It is not always easy to explain, but its core belief is that Jesus did not leave us just a memory but is still very much with us. The Eucharist is not a reminder of Jesus as a historical figure, but that Jesus still continues to nourish, strengthen and journey with his people. Love always looks for a way to remain present.

Bread is one of the world's most staple foods nourishing millions of people. Fresh bread tastes beautiful. Old stale bread is tastes awful. When we receive communion it is a beautiful fresh moment. We are touched and blessed with God's love. The presence of Jesus is with us.

Communion gives us life and hope.
Communion gives us courage and strength on our daily journey.
Communion is a personal moment.
Communion is a personal connection.
It is God blessing you with love.

Corpus Christi reminds us that God’s love always finds a way to be present. The Eucharist is a living gift and always will be.

The Corpus Christi procession will not take place as normal in Carrigaline tomorrow (June 7th) but will take place on Sunday June 14th. The reason for this is that the Corpus Christi 100th procession takes place in Cork tomorrow starting at 3pm. Bishop Fintan has requested parishes to defer their own procession to allow parishioners the chance to attend the one in Cork tomorrow.
