Carrickmacross Group Church of Ireland

Carrickmacross Group Church of Ireland Welcome to our page we are a Christ centred church set in the heart of our local community Midweek Eucharist is in Carrick on Wednesdays at 10.30am.

The Carrickmacross Group of Churches is a member of the Church of Ireland Diocese of Clogher following the Anglican Tradition. Our Group comprises of three churches; St Finbarr's set in Carrickmacross, St Molua's in Magheraclooone and St Patrick's Ardragh. Our Rector the Revd Ian Cruickshank was instituted to serve in the parish in February 2023. While the Church of Ireland population in Carrickm

across is small our churches consist of a dedicated group of people who seek to work together to share the love of Christ and to make a difference in our community. Each of our churches are set in the very heart of the communities which we are here to serve with St Finbarr's set on a hill at the very top of Carrickmacross main street over looking the town. We seek to be a welcoming community, everyone is welcome to join us for worship and our aim is to grow in faith, grow in number, grow in love and to grow in stature as a place of value to Carrickmacross and its surrounding villages and town lands. We currently meet for worship every Sunday at 10.00am in Carrickmacross, 12 noon in Magheracloone and on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at 1.15pm in Ardragh.

St. Finbarrs Carol Service Sunday 4th January 10:00am Usually our Carol Services are before 25th December, where we can restrict Christmas to ONE day. However we sell ourselves short as Christmas lasts until 6th January. So rather than Christmas limping out, this year it will end with a bit more enthusiasm, talent on show and joy. We are delighted that the World Choir Carrickmacross will be with us to celebrate our Carol Service in St Finbarrs Carrickmacross, 10:00am. Great to se you there. No service in Magheracloone that Sunday.

HOPE, PEACE, LOVE, JOY. A common theme over the Christmas period for our church services was the focus was on how everyone of us at sometime in our lives may well have lost a measure of hope, peace, love or joy. However it was asked? Was their a person who brought a word, or action that helped to restore hope, peace, love or joy. If so, in the coming year may we be the ones to do like wise. We also reminded ourselves that even if our hope peace love or joy may be effected, the presence of Christ remains constant. So may we remember The Hope of Christ. The Peace of Christ. The Love of Christ. The Joy of Christ and that we would embrace and carry them throughout the New Year sharing with others. The congregation in St Finbarrs were given a special treat as the Sunday School read the Advent Wreath readings beautifully. They also made the sermon memorable by leading the congregation with simple actions to remember Hope, Peace, Looove, and Joy. Thanks to Niamh and Catherine in preparing for the day. Lot of work greatly appreciated.
We were delighted that the World Choir Carrickmacross were able to join us in Magheracloone for the Carol Service.

Sacred Spaces: Looking back on the Christmas period, bringing 2025 to a close, we had so much to be thankful for. Again in the midst of our Christmas Celebrations we were delighted that Emir Quinn choose St Finbarrs as one of the venues for her ‘Sacred Space’ tour. Bringing her crystal-clear soprano and captivating, soulful presence, Eimear brought her unique blend of traditional, Celtic and classical sounds with seasonal treasures and contemporary melodies to transcend the winter’s night. Eimear was joined by the lush and beautiful tones of the Mamisa String Quartet, and guitarist Robbie Overson. It was a truly memorable evening with the church full to capacity.
A huge thank you to so many people who once again gave of their time and talents to make the evening such a wonderful experience.
