THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK

This week we feature the final Synthesis of Communal Spiritual Discernment in our diocese as part of the synodal process. This document is accompanied by a personal reflection by Sean O’ Leary who was involved in the task of writing the synthesis and collating the voices of those who took part. We offer a homily for the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity and a newsletter insert that explores how we are within the embrace of the Trinity and not outside it. Our video this week is a reflection on beauty by Bishop Robert Barron who reminds us that God is not just good and true but beautiful. We have the latest newsletter from ‘The Way Forward’ and finally, a guide to pray the Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus that begins on June 15th and concludes on the Feast of the Sacred Heart on the 24th. Check out these and other resources available at www.thehookoffaith.com

This weekend we will remember and pray for at mass all those who are preparing to sit Junior Cert and Leaving Cert Exams this week. We keep them in our thoughts and prayers and may the Holy Spirit guide them and give them the wisdom and knowledge they need at this time.

Prayers to St Joseph of Cupertino, Patron Saint of Test Taking, For Success in Exams
O Great St. Joseph of Cupertino who while on earth did obtain from God the grace to be asked at your examination only the questions you knew, obtain for me a like favour in the examinations for which I am now preparing. In return I promise to make you known and cause you to be invoked.

Through Christ our Lord.
St. Joseph of Cupertino, Pray for us.
Amen.

This week we had two great community events. Last Sunday we had our annual tractor run here in Galbally. Many Thanks to all who came and supported the tractor run last Sunday. It was a great community event in which we all could gather once again and lovely to see a great buzz in our village.
Yesterday morning we had a lovely celebration in Scoil Mhuire Ballyhogue to mark 70 years of the school 1952- 2022 the opening of our garden, outdoor class room and sensory room. It was lovely to see pupils past and present. It was great to be able to meet and socialize again as a parish community and reconnect with each other.
A sincere thanks and well done to all who were involved in these two events for making both days a splendid and wonderful occasions in the life of our parish.

The Sacred Heart.
June is the month of dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Messenger Publications’ annual Sacred Heart Novena is held for the nine days leading up to the Feast of the Sacred Heart, which is always celebrated nineteen days after Pentecost. Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is considered a symbol of “God’s boundless and passionate love for humanity”. Many have found comfort and solace praying the Novena, and this year we have particular reason as a community, a nation and a global people to find strength, patience and reassurance in God’s love for us.
Novena to the Sacred Heart 2022 - June 15–23, 2022 The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart is June 24, 2022 An Efficacious Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Attributed to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Saint Padre Pio recited this novena every day for all those who requested his prayers.
Novena Prayer to the Sacred Heart
Lord Jesus, you have said, ‘Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you’. I come to you in faith and trust, in love and hope. Let me know your closeness to me, and your care for me and all who are dear to me. My intention for this Novena is dear to me, and I know that what is important to me is important to you. Hear my prayer (mention your intention); grant what I ask, and may I always trust that in all that happens in life, you will be close to me as my friend, guide and saviour. And so, Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you
