St. John Baptist Church was originally built by the Earl of Aldborough, Edward Stratford, overlooking the river Slaney.

The foundation stone for this Church was laid on the 24th October 1903, and the Church was consecrated on 23rd April 1904.

It was designed by James Franklin Fuller and was built by Webster of Gorey. The Church replaced an older Church built in 1790 which had become structurally unsound.

St. John Baptist Church is one of four Churches of Baltinglass Group of Parishes, Diocese of Cashel Ferns and Ossory.

The Parishioners of St. John Baptist Church are starting a project of putting a new roof on the Church, and we would appreciate any help or support.
