norm. While the Church of Ireland is known for her simple liturgies and Low Church ethos, St John’s has been and still is one of the few Anglo Catholic congregations on this island. Vestments, incense and Sanctus bells are used. The Church has the only Stations of the Cross and Monstrance within the Church of Ireland. The Chaplain is Father Robert Jones

The Carols by Candlelight service was a great success. St John’s welcomed over 250 people, both local and from further afar, who packed the church, joining in the singing of the much loved carols and listening to the Christmas story. The voluntary collection raised €2,668, which has been split between Focus Ireland and MSF – Doctors without Borders.

St John’s is grateful to all those who prepared and decorated the church, provided the music and read the lessons, provided refreshments and, finally, who tidied up the church afterwards. Particular thanks are due to the Rev Martin Hilliard who, while the process to appoint a new chaplain to St John’s is ongoing, agreed to preside.
