St Muredach's Cathedral Choir

St Muredach's Cathedral Choir The Cathedral Choir has been an institution in St Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina, since the mid-nineteenth century.

St Muredach’s Cathedral choir has been a constant of Ballina’s life since the nineteenth century, known and loved for its sustained excellence of liturgical music. Today, the SATB choir has a membership of forty choristers and is a successful blend of experienced and young voices. The choir sing at 11am mass every Sunday in St Muredach’s Cathedral as well as at the usual liturgical highpoints in t

he church year. They have produced a best-selling CD of Christmas Carols, have sung in Westminster Cathedral, London and also led the singing at the Irish mass of the International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin in 2012. In July 2014, they had the privilege of singing in St Peter's Basilica, Rome. At the heart their exsistence is raising the hearts and minds of people to a deeper contemplation of the mystery and majesty of God. The choir is deeply committed to this task and constantly strive to better themselves and to choose music that will facilitate this. Regina Deacy has been musical director since 1998.
