St Michael's Church of Ireland, Ballina - Killala Group of Churches St Michael’s Church, Ballina is part of Kilmoremoy Union of Parishes which in turn is part of the Chu The Union worship using the Book of Common Prayer.

Kilmoremoy Union follows the windings of the Moy toward the town church of St Michael’s in Ballina. The Moy, which runs through Ballina to Killala Bay is one of the foremost salmon fishing rivers in Europe. The rest of the Union, Killanley, Kilglass and St Anne’s, Easkey, follow the eastern coast of Killala Bay. In 2023 became combined with and under Killala Group of Churches.These parishes, whic

h run up the Wild Atlantic Way, are in village or rural locations. Within the Union there are two National Schools, St Michael’s in Ballina and Leaffoney in Kilglass. The Bishop of Tuam, Killala and Achonry is patron to these schools and the Rector of the Union chairs the Boards of Management. These schools have good relationships with the local churches and participate in church during festival services. Rector Reverend Alex Morahan

Well we are gearing up for a busy week next week for the 60th Anniversary of the Ballina Salmon Festival - Mayo. All week we have the fantastic Pandora’s Box workshops run by our good friends at the Ballina Costume Company including a traditional Woolcraft Workshop on Heritage Day supported by Killala Woolcraft and FOXFORD. The very special Uilleann Pipes belonging to Eamonn Ceannt are making a welcome return to the collection. There will be old world school games all week on Walsh Street and music in the garden by The Core Mayo and a junior disco on Friday 12th. On Heritage Day we have the Mount Falcon Estate Birds of Prey at 12pm, two special Military vehicles visiting us from the Óglaigh na hÉireann / Irish Defence Forces. We also have two amazing Irish artists running workshops on the day, celebrating our great language, traditions and folklore, the great Eddie Lenihan and Irish With Mollie. So make sure you come in and see us here at the Jackie Clarke Collection during the Ballina Salmon Festival / Heritage Day 2024, we look forward to welcoming you all!

St. Michael's Church in Ballina.
This is a special church with bright colours and lots of character. It reflects the variety and enthusiasm of the people who attend and lovingly care for it. Apart from the inner beauty there is also a lovely coffee dock at the back of the church and we love to meet and chat after church.
You will always be made welcome at St. Michael's.

On behalf of the Church of Ireland community, Rev Canon Alex Morahan is holding a prayer service on Wednesday 22nd November in Kilglass Church of Ireland at 7.30pm for the recovery of Des Clark, Enniscrone. Des is seriously ill in Beaumont Hospital. Please spread the word and come to show the support of the community for Des.
