Jesus + Nothing = More Than Enough
You know that's true, but do you really believe it?
Do you live like it's true?

This morning I happened to be reading from the end of the book of John when the Jewish leaders were full of rage, crying out to crucify Jesus.
When Jesus came, He was not naively optimistic that everyone would love and follow Him. He knew that the good news - God with us - would be met with anger, hate, and rejection, so why did He come?
That's the mystery and beauty of the Christmas story. Who are we that God would suffer so much for us? It makes no sense, but I'm thankful that He cared enough to come.
Merry Christmas 🎄

People are not drawn to meetings and programs. People are drawn to people.
People want to know that they have someone to hangout with on Saturday night. They want to know that somebody has their back. They want to know that they're not alone.
A weekly meeting will not provide that.
Are you creating opportunities for people to connect outside of the meeting? What are you doing to build true comradery?

Reading the Word of God is a great thing. Reading it daily is a habit that will change your life. With that said, it will do you little good if all you do is read it.
As we read the Word and spend time with the Lord, we must allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us and transform us. We must learn to obey.
We must become the Word in a lost world.

Play to the Whistle - Sharing the Christmas Story
Every year we celebrate the arrival of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. It’s a time of great joy and community. We remember the birth of Immanuel, “God with us”, and we look forward to the day He returns - eternity with God.
Meanwhile, how many of our friends and family, coworkers and classmates, neighbors and acquaintances remain in the dark about the true meaning of Christmas? For them, it’s just another day.
The Christmas story is a story of hope, love, joy, and peace - a story meant to be shared. When was the last time you shared the Christmas story with somebody from a different religion?
Christmas is next week. Who do you know that needs to hear about the hope of Christmas and the love of God this year? Who needs to receive the joy of salvation and the peace of Christ? Who will you share the Christmas Story with this week?

Friends do life together. They don’t always believe the same things, but they aren’t afraid to be real. They share with one another the things that are most important to them.
As a follower of Jesus, is it possible to be good friends with someone without talking about Jesus? I don’t believe it is because how can somebody truly know you if you hide the most important part of your life from them?
As long as you’re hiding Jesus, you can never have a genuine friendship. That doesn’t mean we’re always preaching to our non-Christian friends, but it does mean that we’re honest about what’s important to us.

Play to the Whistle - Win the Break
Semester break is awesome. Finally, no more tests and assignments. You get weeks of uninterrupted freedom, but with freedom comes responsibility. Break can be an excellent opportunity for growth, but it can also be a threat.
How do we win the break?
: strength, weakness, opportunity, threat. What are you good at? What do you struggle with? What are your opportunities? What are the threats?
Break is a unique time and can teach us unique lessons. However, threats will attack your weaknesses, and if you’re not intentional, you’ll miss out on unique opportunities. It’s easy to become undisciplined. It’s easy to fill your time with passive activities and screen time and just sit around.
I challenge you to get action this semester break. What is something that you want to grow in? What is something new you want to learn? Have a longer quiet time than usual; go places with your friends; have fun. Seize the opportunities, but also be alert. Don’t be caught defenseless against the devil’s tricks and temptations. Build a wall. Find accountability. Win the break.
I believe this can be one of the most fruitful months of your life, but it won’t just happen. You must seize it. Win the break. Let’s get after it.
