Kids in Kingdom

Jesus takes the wellbeing of children seriously.

In Mark 9, Jesus welcomes a child and reminds His disciples that children are valued in God’s Kingdom. He also gives a serious warning about anyone who causes a child to stumble.

Children aren’t simply part of the church’s future. They are part of the church today. We’re called to welcome them, teach them God’s Word, pray with them, and create a church where they are safe, valued, and loved.

Influence is a gift, but it’s also a responsibility.

Us & Them

Have we made the circle smaller than Jesus has?

In Mark 9, the disciples wanted to stop someone from doing ministry because he wasn’t part of their group. But Jesus reminds them that His kingdom is bigger than their particular circle.

It’s easy to divide people into “us” and “them,” even in the church. But the Gospel is an invitation for everyone. Jesus came for outsiders, sinners, and people who are far from God.

The church should reflect that same welcome, pointing people to Jesus rather than deciding who belongs.
His kingdom is bigger than our circle.

The Place Where Most of Us Live

You can have faith and still have doubts.

In Mark 9, a desperate father comes to Jesus and honestly says, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief.” He believed, but he was still struggling with fear and uncertainty.

Sometimes we think having doubts means we don’t have enough faith. But this man shows us that we can bring both our faith and our doubts to Jesus.

Faith doesn’t mean having every question answered. Sometimes it simply means saying, “Jesus, I believe. Help me in my unbelief.”

Whatever your faith looks like today, bring it to Jesus. He meets us even in the places where our faith feels fragile.

This weekend, we’ll be gathering for our Consecration Services as we pray over our Lead Pastors, Pastor Jamie and Tasha Kemp, as they continue serving and leading our church.

We’ll hear a special message from Pastor Jeff Hartensveld, followed by a time of anointing and prayer as Pastor Jamie and Tasha consecrate themselves to serve the church.

We’ll also share in Communion together as we remember Christ and center ourselves on Him.

As a church family, let’s make our commitment to pray for, support, and walk alongside them in the season ahead.

Come be part of this special moment as we celebrate what God is doing.

Elijah Who?

God’s Kingdom doesn’t always arrive the way we expect.

In Mark 9, Jesus explains that Elijah had already come through John the Baptist, who came to prepare the way for Jesus. John’s ministry wasn’t about drawing attention to himself, but about pointing people to the Messiah.

We may not always feel like we’re doing something significant for God. But faithfully serving, encouraging someone, praying, or simply pointing others toward Jesus matters.

You don’t have to be the Messiah. You just have to point people to Him.

Kingdom of God

Sometimes all we can see is the cross, but the cross is not the end of the story.

In Mark 9, Jesus gives Peter, James, and John a glimpse of His glory through the Transfiguration. After telling His disciples to take up their cross and follow Him, Jesus reminds them that suffering is not the final destination. The Kingdom is coming, and glory is coming.

Following Jesus can be difficult, and we may not always understand what God is doing. But what we see right now is not the whole story.

Keep following. Keep trusting. The cross isn’t the end. Glory is coming.

We were so blessed to have Pastor Steve Andres with us as our guest speaker last weekend, sharing from Mark 2:1–12 and reminding us that people can sometimes be the problem, but people are also God’s solution.

The four friends didn’t just bring their friend to Jesus—they carried him. They refused to let obstacles, discomfort, or inconvenience stand in the way of his encounter with Jesus. Their faith became a catalyst for something only Jesus could do.

When Jesus saw their faith, He went deeper than the man’s physical need. He addressed the brokenness beneath the surface, offering forgiveness and healing.

We’re reminded that godly friendship is more than making life easier—it helps us move closer to Jesus. May we be people who are willing to carry one another’s burdens, make room for the broken and searching, and remove every barrier that keeps people from encountering Christ.

What are you living for?

In Mark 8, Jesus asks, “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” It’s a reminder that success, experiences, and everything the world has to offer can never fill the space that was made for God.

True purpose isn’t found in chasing what we think will make our lives meaningful. It’s found in knowing the One who created us.

Jesus isn’t just part of our lives. He is the reason for it.

How big is your God?

Sometimes we forget what God has already done.

In Mark 8, Jesus reminds His disciples of the miracles they had already witnessed, yet they were still worried about what they didn’t have. And honestly, we can be the same. God has been faithful before, but when a new challenge comes, we can quickly become overwhelmed.

That’s why worship matters. Worship doesn’t always change our situation, but it can change where we’re looking. Instead of focusing on how big the problem is, we remember how big our God is.

When life feels overwhelming, pause. Sing. Give thanks. Remember His faithfulness.
Sometimes what we need most is not, “God, fix this,” but “God, help me remember who You are.”

We are deeply saddened by the earthquake in NTT. In this time of loss and uncertainty, we want to stand alongside those who have been affected and offer practical support where it is most needed.

As a church, we are helping provide sembako and essential supplies to affected families, while also looking for ways to assist with the repair and restoration of churches that have been damaged.

We pray for those who are grieving, those who have lost their homes or livelihoods, and all those facing difficult days ahead. May God strengthen, comfort, and sustain every person and family affected.
