🍬 GOVARDHANA PŪJĀ AND A MOUNTAIN OF SWEETS – AND WE’RE REOPENING THE ELEPHANT GUESTHOUSE! 🐘

The Elephant Guesthouse is normally closed in October, but there’s one special weekend when we’re making an exception. 😊

On October 18, we’ll celebrate Govardhana Pūjā in Krishna Valley – and one of the most spectacular parts of the celebration is the Govardhana Hill created from an abundance of offered sweets and other delicious preparations. 🍰🍪

For this special occasion, we’re reopening the Elephant Guesthouse from October 16–19, so you don’t have to squeeze your whole visit into just one day.

Come a day or two earlier, stay with us for the celebration, and enjoy a little more of autumn in Krishna Valley before heading home. 🍂

🐘 Booking is now open for the Elephant Guesthouse:
https://vendeghaz.krisnavolgy.hu/

The rooms are available to book for these few days only.

🐄 WHAT HAPPENS AT A COW PROTECTION CENTRE?

In Krishna Valley, cows are much more than part of the farm. They are cared for and protected throughout their entire lives – even when they no longer give milk.

On 26 September, you can discover this special approach during a guided walk. Meet the cows and oxen, explore the Cow Protection Centre, and learn what cow protection means in everyday life here. 🐮

🐄 If you’d like to meet some of Krishna Valley’s four-legged residents, you’ll find all the details about the walk here:
https://krisnavolgy.hu/programok/seta-a-tehenvedelmi-kozpontban-2026-szept

🍂 And if you’re coming all this way, why stay for just one day? Spend a few nights in one of our guesthouses and give yourself time to discover more of Krishna Valley.

💻 YOUR MOST PRODUCTIVE DAYS DON’T ALWAYS HAPPEN IN THE BUSIEST PLACES

Sometimes you don’t need more time. You just need fewer distractions.

In a quieter environment, it’s easier to focus on one task, think through a problem, finish something you’ve been putting off, or simply get your thoughts in order.

And when it’s time for a break, you don’t have to switch to another screen. Step outside, take a walk in nature, clear your head, and come back to your work feeling refreshed.

Sometimes, a little peace and quiet is exactly what helps you get more done. 💻

If you work remotely, why not make Krishna Valley your online office for a few days?

😄 A PLACE WITH ALMOST TOO MUCH TO DO

Sometimes our guests tell us:
“I wish we had come for more than just a few days.”

And we can understand why. 😊

There always seems to be one more thing to discover in Krishna Valley.

🚲 Cycle through the Valley and explore the surrounding countryside.
🐂 Take an ox-cart ride.
🎨 Discover the art and craftsmanship of Krishna Valley.
🧘 Join meditation and temple programmes.
🌱 Get a closer look at farm life, the gardens and sustainable living.
🌿 Or simply go for a walk and find a quiet corner of the Valley.

And that’s still not everything.

That’s why we’ve gathered the many possibilities of a stay in Krishna Valley into one catalogue. You can explore our guesthouses, discover activities and experiences, and start planning how you’d like to spend your days here before you even arrive.

🍂 WHAT CAN YOU DO ON AN AUTUMN WEEKEND IN KRISHNA VALLEY?

Perhaps one of the best things about it is that you don’t have to plan every minute in advance.

If you’re an early riser, it’s worth experiencing dawn in Krishna Valley at least once. 🌅 The temple programme begins as early as 4:30 am with maṅgala-ārati, followed later by mantra meditation, kīrtana and a morning class. You don’t have to stay for the entire programme – simply getting up early one morning and seeing how the day begins here can be a special experience in itself.

Afterwards, you can take a walk through the arboretum. In autumn, the Valley shows a completely different side of itself, with changing leaves, crisp air and quiet paths along the way. 🍁

If the early morning programme isn’t for you, you can also visit the temple during the day, look around, and then enjoy a delicious vegetarian lunch. Afterwards, you can head towards the cow protection centre or the gardens and get a closer look at everyday life in Krishna Valley.

If you feel like doing something a little different, there are several special activities to choose from. 🎨 You can have henna painted, book an Indian mandala painting or pottery workshop, or join a photography course. You can also explore Krishna Valley by e-rickshaw, while an ox-cart ride offers yet another way to see the Valley.

And it’s perfectly fine if there isn’t always a next stop. You don’t need to fill your whole day with activities.

You can simply sit somewhere in the Valley and take in the autumn scenery, listen to the sounds around you, or keep walking wherever you feel like going.

Perhaps that’s one of the best things about an autumn weekend in Krishna Valley: there’s plenty to discover, but there’s no need to rush through it. 🌿

🌊🏃‍♂️ 40 KM OF SWIMMING, FOLLOWED BY A RUN AROUND LAKE BALATON

At the end of August, an extraordinary challenge was completed at Lake Balaton.

At the age of 77, Śrīla Śivarāma Swami Mahārāja, the founding spiritual leader of Krishna Valley, swam 40 kilometres from Zánka to Keszthely. He spent more than 17 hours in the water before handing over the relay to his secretary, Śyāma-bihārī Prabhu. 🙏

From there, Śyāma-bihārī Prabhu continued the journey on foot. He set off at 11:30 pm on Sunday and reached the finish line at 1:15 am on Tuesday. Along the way, he ran through the night, in temperatures reaching 34°C, and finally through wind and rain.

Behind this remarkable physical achievement was an important purpose: raising funds to complete the new Health Centre being built in Krishna Valley, which will also provide compassionate care for elderly devotees and those approaching the end of life.

Forty kilometres of swimming, followed by a run around Lake Balaton – two days of endurance and determination for a shared cause.

Our heartfelt congratulations to Śrīla Śivarāma Swami Mahārāja and Śyāma-bihārī Prabhu on this remarkable achievement! 🙏

📵 When was the last time you were truly offline?

Not with your phone lying next to you on the table. But really offline.

You didn’t start your morning by checking notifications. You didn’t look to see who had messaged you while you were out for a walk. You didn’t immediately take a photo of everything — you were simply there.

In Krishna Valley, this kind of “digital detox” can happen quite naturally. 🌳

A walk through the arboretum, the sound of birds, sitting quietly in nature, joining a temple program, or simply enjoying a few peaceful moments when nothing feels urgent.

Your phone can stay in your pocket.
And the world around you might suddenly feel a little closer. 😊

Maybe the real question isn’t whether you could manage a day without your phone, but what you might notice instead.

👍 If you could use a little break from screens too, like and share this post!

💬 How many hours do you think you could go without checking your phone even once?

📜 A LANGUAGE THAT HAS PRESERVED WISDOM FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS 📜

Today is International Literacy Day – a good opportunity to turn our attention to one of the world’s most ancient languages: Sanskrit (saṁskṛta).

Many of the ancient Vedic texts were preserved in Sanskrit, including the Bhagavad-gītā and the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Their verses explore questions that still feel surprisingly relevant today:

Who am I beyond my roles and everyday tasks?
What brings real happiness?
How can I find inner peace when life around me is constantly moving?

Sanskrit is a language, not a writing system. Today, you will often see it written in Devanāgarī script, but for centuries Vedic knowledge was also passed down orally, from teacher to student, with great care given to pronunciation and memorisation.

Here in Kṛṣṇa Valley, these ancient texts are not simply books on a shelf. Their teachings are part of everyday life, meditation, conversations and community – ancient wisdom meeting the questions of modern life. 🙏

👍 If you found this interesting, give the post a like and share it with someone who might enjoy discovering Sanskrit and Vedic wisdom.

💬 Have you ever read the Bhagavad-gītā? What thought or teaching stayed with you?

👵 WHAT WE PASS ON TO EACH OTHER 👴

Today is Grandparents’ Day. 🤍

Grandparents often have a very special place in our lives. They connect us to our family’s past, to stories we may not have experienced ourselves, and to traditions that might otherwise slowly disappear.

And what they pass on to us is often much more than family memories. Sometimes it is a recipe we still prepare the way they did. A story we have heard a hundred times but still love listening to. A way of caring for the garden, preparing food, welcoming guests, or simply being there for one another.

They can also teach us things that are difficult to learn from books: patience, perseverance, simplicity, gratitude, and the importance of making time for the people around us.

In the Vedic tradition, passing knowledge from one generation to the next is also deeply valued. Knowledge is not simply something to collect – it becomes meaningful when it is lived, preserved and shared with others.

Perhaps this is one of the most beautiful things about generations meeting: we can learn from those who came before us, add our own experiences, and one day pass something valuable on to those who come after us.

💬 Is there a piece of advice, a tradition or a special memory from your grandparents that you still carry with you today?
