Announcement: The Masses for Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday will be celebrated at 11:00 AM instead of our usual 10:30! Spread the word!

Holy Week Schedule 2026

English Masses in St Stephen’s Basilica
(Entrance to the crypt church is next to the glass lift outside.)
Palm Sunday, March 29
-Mass and Blessing of Palms, 4pm in the main Basilica
Holy Thursday April 2
-Mass of the Lord’s Supper, at 6pm in the crypt Church

Good Friday, April 3
-Stations of the Cross at 2pm
-Service of the Lord’s passion at 3pm
-Both held in the crypt church

Holy Saturday, April 4 (only Hungarian-speaking ceremonies!)
-Easter Vigil Mass and Eucharistic procession at 6pm in the Basilica -Principal Celebrant: Bishop Gábor Mohos, pastor of St Stephen’s Basilica

Easter Sunday, April 5
-Solemn Mass at 4pm in the Basilica
Easter Monday April 6

-Mass at 6pm in Mary's chapel. (Find entrance near the back of the church on the side where the glass lift is.)

Dear Sisters, Dear Brothers in Christ,

As many of you have heard, it will indeed be Father Michael's "last" Mass at the Chapel for now. The exact next steps are not clear, yet.

There is a chance that he may move for some months to a house of the Legionaries of Christ in Mexico for better recovery. This will become clear in the next 2-3 weeks.

In any case, it would be of help to him, if he had funds available that would allow him to pay for his return to Hungary after a few months without having to ask the Order for support. Hence, we would suggest giving the full collection tomorrow to Father Michael. Please keep that in mind when we collect during Mass tomorrow. We will also add HUF 100,000 from the funds we have as a community to the collection. I hope this is in the spirit of everybody.

Should you not be able to attend tomorrow, but still would ike to contribute, please let me know.

Dear community,

In Matthew 28, our Lord instructs us to “make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” In keeping with this Great Commission, we should strive to lead others to the Church founded by Christ, educating and loving others as Christ has loved and taught us.

Our community is once again offering catechesis and confirmation for adults and teens, as well as first communion for children! The sacrament of confirmation is much more than an optional religious education class. At confirmation, Catholics are sealed with the Holy Spirit and with the gifts necessary to become soldiers for Christ. If you know someone who is interested in becoming Catholic or learning more about Catholicism, please have them contact Janos Strohmayer at [email protected], or Joel Sims at [email protected].

Please help to spread the word, as many people are only in Budapest for a short time and have difficulty receiving the sacraments because of travel. We have a unique opportunity to offer the sacraments to people from all over the world through our international community. Let us make good use of our position and timing to do the work that Christ has prepared for us!

Thanks be to God that His Church is still alive and going strong, 2,000 years later.

Join us next week for yet another adult baptism, and a group rosary in the chapel after the 10:30 mass. Continue to pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance as the Cardinal Electors gather this week to select a new Pope! 🕊️
