No one in our church community remembers which altar the wooden statues of the apostles, currently on display in the crypt, may have adorned.

There is one person who remembers that when he was an altar boy (in the 1960s and 1970s), the statues were placed on top of a cabinet in the sacristy.
Unfortunately, we do not know anything more about the statues at this time.

At the request of Father Zoltán, Tibor Kálmán Zalavári, a form and visual designer, has now inspected the statues and made a proposal to replace the attribute of the statue of St. Peter.
So St. Peter will once again have a key in his hand! You will soon be able to see it for yourselves between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Mihrab:

In the 16th century, the Muslim Turks who occupied Buda and Pest converted the church into a Muslim mosque. At that time, the mihrab (meaning “the ear of Allah”) facing Mecca was created. The Turks later returned the building to the Christians.

Enthroned Madonna:
This mural was painted by an Italian master in the early 14th century as part of the high altar. It was discovered by experts during the restoration of the sanctuary in 2010, hidden under seven layers of paint. A depiction of Bishop Saint Gellért (Gerard) can also be seen here.
