As you can imagine, Michelle and I (along with our kids) are emotionally, mentally, and spiritually heart broken by the recent earthquake that hit Haiti ... specifically the city of Les Cayes and surrounding area.
This is a place we called home for a period of time, and place where we actively shared the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ with many Haitians.
We lived our daily lives in Les Cayes, we shopped for groceries in Les Cayes, our boys celebrated birthdays in Les Cayes, we drove the streets of Les Cayes, and we built amazing relationships with the people of Les Cayes. Our hearts go out to the Haitians and missionaries who are impacted by this earthquake.
We have connected with many of our friends, and while there are no reports of serious injuries with them, the devastation of homes and infrastructure is vast. Plus, many of our friends are now searching for food just to survive.
We've heard from a close friend who is housing over 100 people in his church - but has no food to feed them. We've talked with a young man who lost his family home and is sleeping outside, but is more concerned that his family has no food to eat. We know missionaries that suffered almost 100% loss of a ministry they built over the past two decades.
We are working with the DeRoos family and Laborers With Christ to send money to those in need. We know of several needs, and are working to get funds directly into the hands of people who can greatly impact people immediately.
If you are interested in helping, and want to know your money is going straight to the hands of those in need, please let me know. We will do our best to get donated funds directly to these people, as quickly as possible.
Please continue to pray for Haiti. The country needs God to show up in a big way ... there are people doing amazing work in Haiti, and they need our support as much as ever.
