Sonlight Christian Mission, Inc is located in Gonaives, Haiti and currently operates a church, school grades 1-11 and a part time medical clinic. We are proud that 100% of all funds go directly in

to the Haiti mission with all US support being volunteers. If God had not lead people to open their hearts to supporting this wonderful mission, untold numbers of Haitian children and adults would have never been blessed knowing Jesus Christ and by SCM's abilities to serve others. Our goals are to continue our original vision in 1999 for winning souls to Jesus through showing the love of Christ, maintaining a place for worship, give knowledge only a education can afford and maintain individuals health to grow, overcome poverty and continue spreading the word to the world. God started working through Melio Jean at the age of 9 while he lived at Cookson Hills Christian Home in Port-Au-Prince 80 miles from his home. Melio had a vision to start a mission and once obtaining his college education in the US, he went back and moved to Gonaives, Haiti. In October 1999, Sonlight Christian Mission was incorporated. It is there that through today, God has blessed Melio and SCM to save souls, educate children and give medical treatment at the mission. Hi to all our supporters and friends of Sonlight Christian Mission. It has been a busy summer and time definitely doesn't stand still.

Melio and the mission has been busy holding revival, 2 VBS's, helping the sick and feeding the souls throughout each week with Bible studies, men's and women's gatherings, prayer meetings and Sunday church.

We continue to send food funds the two months that school is out to feed the children during the two weeks of VBS that they have and the congregation at revival if possible.

I am sending this out with praise to our mighty God who sees SCM through so many trials. Currently there are several sick there. Melio just got over being sick a couple of weeks ago. Satan is Satan, and he does always what he does best in trying to destroy and torment Gods children. I know, as they do in Haiti, that Satan can only do what God allows him to and " in the name of Jesus, Satan has to get behind Him!" Praise God.

We have several prayer needs that we ask you to pray for.
1. Stephanie our new treasurer has been under trials of Satan ever since she accepted the position. Pray for God's protection over her and her household!
2. Both of the vans we have at SCM have broke down. One with engine problems and the other with transmission issues. They use these to transport individuals daily for needs and to pick up supplies. Pray for God to intervening with funds to repair them and a quick turn over to get them repaired.
3. We have been working to build a new kitchen for the mission for a while at a cost of $15,000.00 USD. With the school almost completed with all grades and the fact that since 2013 the school has been using a makeshift building with screen and a pole barn frame to do all the cooking, it is a priority to do this. Pray for God to send supporters for this need.
4. Haiti is still in distress with the gangs and the mass majority of all Haitians are without power now for over 5 years, there are basically no jobs and bartering is the only way to survive there. Pray the country will turn from voodoo and turn to God for His favor to fall upon the country.
5. Praise God for all He continues to provide for the missions basic needs. Praise Him that He is still working in the mission, as the week of July 25th, during one of the VBS's, 17 gave their lives to our Lord! THAT IS WHAT SONLIGHT CHRISTIAN MISSION IS ALL ABOUT!!!

We give deep thanks for each one of you who prays for the mission. Your prayer are felt and definitely enrich the mission through God acting on them.

I am blessed to share with you that SCM has a new treasurer / forwarding agent that is starting the first of this month. I have served the mission since 2010 and as treasurer since taking over from Shirley Kelly in 2013. I have been praying for someone with a heart to serve God by serving SCM and God, in His time provided that person.

It is with great joy that I introduce Stephanie Wijesinghe to you. She attends Bethany Christian Church in Dallas, GA, who is one of SCM’s long-term supporting churches and has two of the mission’s other board members in Andy Bresnock and Wayne Strickland attending. She will take over May 01, 2026 with me assisting her through the end of June 2026. She has a heart for serving the Lord through this mission and I look forward to her enthusiasm being shared with you, which I have been blessed to experience in our conversations.

This blessing of Stephanie will allowing me to serve in another path God has directed me on. I know my heart will always be with Melio and SCM. I long for the day when Haiti is safe to travel to once again and making a trip there to see in person, the completion of the school and all that God has done there! I will be available to Stephanie for any needs she may have.

Hi to all our our prayer warriors and supporters. It has been a little while since our last post, mostly due to the situation in Haiti not changing. The gangs are still in control of key locations including blocking National Rt #1 highway from Port-Au-Prince to Gonaïves.

However with that news comes some positive news, that the mission continues to be protected by our great God and His work is being done there.

We were able to send funds to repair the old church roof and raise it up to a better height as well as funds to repair the steps that were deteriorating on the security house inside the mission. Check out the pictures attached.
