Jardin has been around for a long time. Long enough that we have children of our first graduating classes in school with us now. We also have grandchildren and great grandchildren of our first employees! There’s something really special about building a family legacy based on a Christian education.

Trusting us with a second generation of kids is so sweet and something that we take very seriously. We hope to make the whole community so salty and so bright that no one feels the need to hide.

If you were here in the beginning days of Jardin, do you know who these kids are related to?

Every week is something new and also very much the same. Our days have a lovely rhythm that make the beat of our days the happiest!

When we look back on how faithful God has been to us, it can and should bring us to our knees. From the big hill with a pine tree, all the way to a strong brick building filled with happy students and beautiful landscaping. He has been faithful all the way.

The Lord has been more than good to us. We have a library, a computer and a science lab, a soccer field and a place for parent counseling.

We are wrapping up landscaping and even though there will always be work to do here, it’s so beautiful. Thanking the Lord for his faithfulness this Thursday morning 🌼

One thing that makes Jardin unique is that our middle school students are actively involved with our younger elementary students. We intentionally put our kids in mentoring situations when we break into our teams several times per year and when our kids graduate and come back to visit, it’s something that they almost always mention that they miss.

It’s rewarding to see our kids grow out of the little kid roles and into the mentoring position. It’s a perk of being a mission that’s focused on the long term. ❤️

It’s May! A new month means a new Fruit of the Spirit and this month we’re centered on Goodness. Goodness is a little confusing especially when you list it with Kindness and Love. Framing Goodness in light of love can make it easier.

We’re explaining it as the practice of love. Or also: Actively helping others and making choices that reflect the character of Jesus, even when it is difficult, instead of simply obeying rules.

Goodness is active. How can you show goodness in your life to the people that you see every day?

We use a LOT of applause here at Jardin. One of our favorites is the loving applause. It looks like a pat on your own shoulders and a hug to yourself. The kids in the front of this picture are so cute, but even the middle schoolers in the back enjoy this Expectation.

Recognizing every effort and applauding it is one of our favorite GE practices 🌼

Last week we celebrated Dia de la idioma español (day of Spanish language) by learning about Honduran writers and presenting what we learned to our classmates.

Learning to talk in front of a big group is an important skill. You can see that even the youngest kids did a great job and enjoyed their time in front of the audience. We foster this environment by following Great Expectations number 2: We will not laugh at or make fun of a person’s mistakes nor use sarcasm or putdowns.

Presenting in front of an audience is difficult but we don’t need to make it even harder. We’re so proud to live in a country with so many great authors and even more proud of what we learned about them.
