Dear Brothers and Sisters in-Christ,
We have invited Mr. Andrew Leung as our guest speaker to share with us on Musical Traditions of the Church: Gregorian Chant and Sacred Polyphony. Singing has been part of the Christian liturgy since the earliest days of the Church till today. Gregorian chant is the central tradition of Western plain chant, a form of monophonic, unaccompanied sacred song of the Roman Catholic Church. Gregorian chant developed mainly in western and central Europe during the 9th and 10th centuries.
Mr. Leung is a seminarian of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Steubenville in the US, also a baritone, choral conductor, organist and is the founder and music director of Vox Antiqua. Mr. Leung has been teaching courses and conducting workshops for over 200 church musicians in Hong Kong in the recent years. Mr. Leung will illustrate his talk with examples.

2017年3月1日﹝星期三﹞是聖灰禮儀日及四旬期的開始，當天須要領聖灰及守大小齋。

※ 夏神父已安排在3月10日機場彌撒中施放聖灰。

※ 『守齋』的用意是：第一是彌補罪過；第二是促使教友皈依基督的心愈益成長，引導教友思想像基督，行動肖似基督。

※ 『小齋』：教會規定凡已足14歲的教友在每年的聖灰禮儀日及聖週內星期五紀念基督聖死日守小齋，即在那兩天放棄取用熱血動物的肉類食品。

※ 『大齋』：教會也要求年齡已滿18至59歲的教友在上述兩個日子除了守小齋外，還要守大齋，即在那兩天只可食飽一餐，其他兩餐只可進食少許食物，其餘時間可飲流質飲品，但不能進食其他食物﹝藥物除外﹞。

※ 此外在四旬期內，可作特別善功，每天參與彌撒、朝拜聖體、拜苦路、勤辦告解、守克己、作犧牲、行哀矜。

Dear all,

The new Catholic catechism sharing group will begin a new cycle on Aug 4 (every Thursday 12:45 - 1:45 Room 1C, HKIA Tower and BYO lunch) and you are welcomed to come along, with any other colleagues you invite (who may just wish to get a taste of what it is like).

For this new cycle, we shall introduce more spiritual elements in the sharing of our faith, and put greater emphasis on the relevance with our daily life.
