What is the biggest purpose that God has in store for each of us? We can answer in many ways but I believe that it is in some ways simple... To know God. Let's look at Job's life. A man who was obedient, blameless and upright.... who was put in display by God to boast to Satan. He was what any of us want to be... a really good 'christian'. But God knew what was deep in Job's heart. "...because he (Job) was righteous in his own eyes." [32:1]
An idol was hiding away in his heart that no one saw. How did God deal with it? By making himself know to Job (Job 38 - 41). As Job encounters the living, majestic, glorious, holy, powerful, almighty and awesome God... the idol in his heart breaks and he utters... 'My ears had heard of you... but now my eyes have seen you.'
We all have idols... ones that are easy to see, and ones that are hidden deep within. We all need to encounter God *as He is*. Like Job, sometimes it comes through suffering. Other times, it comes as we open His word and come surrendering and asking Him to speak.
Let's pray that we would encounter God everyday in a more intimate way than yesterday... that our daily walk would be to seek Him. And may we be a community that helps each other encounter Jesus personally and as a family.
