般若精舍由宏賢老法師與性智法師於1915年創立，為一所佛教大師進行自我修行之道場，法燈高懸，經常迎請佛門大德弘經說教，如虛云老和尚、觀本老法師、顯慈老法師等曾先後進駐，弘揚佛法，念佛講經，長期辦有佛學班法化眾生，並開辦香港第一家佛教安老院，期後不斷擴充院務。經歷近一個世紀，般若精舍服務更趨多元化，增設靈龕紀念館、茹素館、藏經閣等，本著佛學慈悲為懷之心，奉獻社會。
