Our English Ministry (EM) includes a Sunday Worship Service, fellowships (for various age groups), Sunday School (toddlers to adults), and

Exploring New Horizons for Worship Services through the Congregational Survey

The 2026 congregational survey of the NPAC family allows us to see the present landscape of worship services in greater detail… These differences remind us that within the same church, congregants receive worship songs differently….The data also reminds us that we should not place excessive weight on choices of style...

This brings to mind Rev. A. B. Simpson at the end of the 19th century. Ancient hymns were certainly treasures of the church. Yet for those struggling to survive, those weary after a long day’s labour in factories, and those newly arrived in a foreign land, such hymns often seemed refined yet unfamiliar. Therefore, he adopted the more easily sung form of gospel songs so that more people could open their mouths in praise… Simpson did not reject the national and military imagery represented by this musical style. Instead, he “used this energy to advance the salvation of souls,” guiding people to look towards eternity.

If Rev. Simpson demonstrated to the church that modes of expression can move with the times, Rev. A. W. Tozer reminded the church that innovation, if it loses its roots, will ultimately be unable to stand. Tozer pointed out that true worship and praise should not be centred on one’s own feelings... The popular songs of Simpson’s time have become part of today’s classic hymnody not only because they are easy to sing, but also because their lyrics contain clear theology…

The Fourth Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization in 2024 also called on the global church to proclaim and manifest Christ in the world through many creative forms of expression. As we explore new horizons for worship services, our focus should not stop merely at musical style. The church must be attentive to holding fast to the core of the gospel amid many voices. Though forms of expression may change, the direction of worship must always be fixed on God, so that people of different generations may worship Him in spirit and in truth.

How Good It Is to Love One Another and Walk Together in the Love of Christ!

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35). This is a gift our Savior has given us, so that on the spiritual journey we may have companions, learning and growing together, and loving one another.

Watching Over One Another amid Confusion and Challenges
Love is first expressed in exhortation and in watching over one another in the workplace. A sister once fell victim to an online scam. Thankfully, her group members exhorted her in time to let go of greed and not be deceived by lies, thus sparing her from greater loss. In family life, when a brother experienced tension in his relationship with his family…

Supporting One Another amid Illness and Storms
When members of the body are weak or ill, the love of the family in Christ becomes especially real. When a sister was hospitalized because of cancer, her fellowship members not only visited her, prayed with her, and read Scripture with her, but also thoughtfully brought her the food she liked and helped her with everyday errands. Another brother, who has long suffered from illness, was not only prayed for by his fellowship members, but they even massaged his weakened legs to prevent muscle atrophy...

Passing on the Faith Together on Life’s Journey
Because of love, many newcomers have found a sense of belonging in the church. After a brother joined a fellowship, the members listened attentively to his questions about faith and responded to them. As they gradually became more familiar with one another, he joined the baptism class and was baptized...

Brothers and sisters, what experiences of mutual love among companions come to mind in your life? .... If you do not yet have spiritual companions, I encourage you to join a fellowship or small group soon, and walk the heavenly path together with other members of the body!

“Love in the Details”—Three Episodes Deeply Etched in My Heart

(1) A month ago, two days after my father passed away, I returned to the office and found an envelope in my pigeonhole. When I opened it, I found a book on how to face grief. At once, warmth filled my heart and my eyes grew moist. Even before I opened the book in my hands, the feeling of being remembered and comforted had already filled my heart. “Who sent me this book?”…

(2) Last year, I took my father to Sai Kung for a half-day outing. Since he had become mobility-impaired, he had not gone out to the countryside for more than ten years. Before we set off, I asked a kindergarten classmate who lives in Sai Kung for recommendations on nice local food. At first, he recommended one or two restaurants, but shortly afterward he called and said that he could have lunch with us. In the end, he accompanied us as we strolled along Sai Kung Pier, chatting and taking photos…

(3) Many years ago, a small fire broke out in one corner of the church, prompting firefighters to come and assist. The fire was quickly extinguished, and thankfully, apart from the item that had caught fire, nothing else was affected. During the evaluation afterward, I found that the item belonged to a church member I knew, and I had not noticed that it had been left charging unattended. Just as I was feeling uneasy over what might have been my negligence, a co-worker said to those present, “This was an accident.”…

Brothers and sisters, what words or actions of love hidden in or revealed through the smallest details come to your mind? Paul exhorted the church in Corinth: “Do everything in love” (1 Corinthians 16:14). Let us not only be moved by the love of others, but also build others up in all things (whether great or small) through love.

Different Styles, the Same Goal

Throughout history, churches in different regions, ethnic groups, and cultures have continually developed their own worship styles. Yet amid such a wide range of cultural expressions, the most important core has always remained the same: God-centred worship.

Apart from the English Worship Service and the Youth Worship Service, which have for many years been led primarily by praise teams, the use of praise teams as a regular leading group in the NPAC family actually began only more than ten years ago with the SATpoint Worship Service, followed later by the TC5 Worship Service and the SUN+ Worship Service. Although the styles of worship and music differ from those of the worship services conducted in the main church, each service has continued to uphold NPAC’s long-standing worship philosophy—God-centred worship…

Over more than twenty years of worship and music ministry, I have deeply come to understand that worship style is a channel that leads us before God. Whether we are serving in a particular role or participating in worship, we pray that God will guard our hearts and minds from going astray, so that glory may be given to God and not to people… The purpose of worship is to fix the worshiper’s focus on Jesus Christ. Whether one is the praise team leader, a musician, an organist, or a choir member, the role of those who lead music in worship is to use the gifts given by God in the worship service to draw people closer to Him.

For the congregation who participate in the worship service each week, although the order of worship may seem similar, we still ask God to grant us a heart of reverence and adoration in accordance with the content of the songs and the sermon. Each week, the worship music ministry teams do their best to prepare and to offer beautiful music to reflect the beauty and glory of God. This also encourages our hearts, making us more willing to connect with Him and allow Him to lead our lives.

We Visited the Home of a Worthy Person

This year, I joined Brother Xiao Jiang back to his hometown for the Lunar New Year and visited his relatives and friends…

Xiao Jiang explained that among his people group, there are wicked individuals who, out of jealousy or self-interest, deceive, entrap, and curse others (including their own relatives and friends), causing those who are harmed to fall into depression, anxiety, and even attempts to take their own lives. At such times, what is needed is a good person to help, and the cousin who had received salvation was precisely such a person. “Whatever town or village you enter, search there for some worthy person and stay at their house until you leave” (Matthew 10:11, NIV). The Revised Chinese Union Version and the Worldwide Chinese Bible respectively render the phrase as “a suitable person” and “suitable”; Lu Zhen-zhong translation renders it as “a person who is worthy”; and the NET Bible Chinese version renders it as “who is devout.” “Good,” “suitable,” and “worthy” refer to those who have the capacity and willingness to receive the disciples. Their hospitality can open the door of salvation to an entire clan and community.

When sharing the gospel in the past, I often used the term “man of peace” or “person of peace.” This term comes from the parallel passage to Matthew 10:11: “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you” (Luke 10:5–6). We often pray for missionaries, asking the Lord to lead them to encounter a “person of peace” in the mission field who will receive them, so that peace and blessing may remain in that household. It is our hope that this “person of peace” will be willing to accept the invitation of the Lord Jesus (Matthew 11:28-30), come to Him, take His yoke upon themselves, and learn from Him, so that their lives may receive true rest.
