Once again, preparations are underway for another medical/ spiritual outreach to the poor in Guatemala. Please pray for protection, as well as open hearts and minds. God is not willing that any should perish, and it is our job to tell them about Jesus and all He has done for us. Eternal LIFE is a free gift, but many have not even heard the good news. Let's do our part!

Sorry, I dropped the ball not posting anything about our trip in 2024. A team of medical professionals went to Guatemala, as they do each year, and made a geat impact, both physically and spiritually. We are once again gearing up for this May. I promise to follow up with a report afterwards. Since I don't get much feedback from this page I put most of my efforts into our quarterly newsletter. If you would like to be included in that, please respond personally to my email [email protected] with your address or email, and let me know which way you prefer. I mail o
ut the newsletters, as I am a dinosaur.

Dear friends and partners,

Acts 10:38 says "Jesus... went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. As a song that was popularized in the '70's by The Jesus people says, "I have decided to follow Jesus."

As God was with Jesus in those days long ago, God is with us today as we follow Jesus and do those things He has called us to do.

For 10 days this June a group of people, committed to doing good and healing, went to Guatemala. Our intention was letting our light shine in a dark place so that others might see our good works and give glory to our Father in heaven. This year we had the largest group of volunteers ever! Paul writes "One sows, another waters, but God gives the increase," and that is exactly what God has done. With about 25% more volunteers this summer we were able to bring that many more Bibles, medical supplies, and material donations like canes, walkers, personal hygiene products, and t-shirts. With each person bringing a minimum of 100 pounds and some bringing up to 140 pounds, we exceeded all precious years in total volume of good transported. When I say we took down "a ton of supplies" I'm not exaggerating, but in fact I would be underestimating our impact.

With Elim Central Church, the biggest church in Guatemala, hosting and providing us with the logistics, transportation, use of their building, and an abundance of faithful loving translators, we really stepped into a whole new level of ministry this year. With the help of our translators, many of which have helped us in past years, we were much better able to connect with those precious people we came to comfort and encourage. With the help of our translators we were better able to target specific needs and specific prayer requests, praying the prayer of agreement with each person, and coming alongside them with faith and compassion.

Without a translator we could only pray general blessings, comfort, and encouragement in English, and they really could not understand what we were praying. Although God understands English and Spanish, the recipients of our prayers were not being edified or built up in their faith as much as they could be. We had translators each year in the past but there were never enough to go around, and they had to take shifts to cover all the bases. But having the help of more translators meant each recipient was infused with faith to agree together with us and to expect to see the results forthcoming in their lives. This enabled them to continue to stand in faith as they went back into the everyday difficulties of their lives. When we prayed together with them in agreement and targeted their specific needs, our prayers increased in fervancy and effectiveness. (Matthew 18:19, James 5:16)

This side of heaven we will never know the full impact of the prayers we released in faith. So many needs, so many problems and sorrows were all being lifted up to the Father in faith. As the Word tells us "All things are possible to him that believes," and WE ARE BELIEVERS, NOT DOUBTERS. "And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us; and if we know that we hear us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him." 1 John 5:14 & 15

The doctors, nurses, and other medical providers, all of them compassionate and caring servants, talked with each patient, listening to their ailments, counseling them regarding lifestyle changes, and prescribing medications to help them in the healing process. When each one of our new Guatemalan friends left the church, they definitely recognized they had come into God's presence and seen His hand of mercy extended and His love manifested. It really is the goodness of God being demonstrated through His people - His ambassadors - that leads men and women to repentance, ushering them into the kingdom of His Son, Jesus. And that really is the purpose of these outreaches, to show others the love of the Father, and to introduce the One who knows them best and loves them most.

We also took the time to visit the two Christian schools that we have continued to support for many years now. All the students received donated Gideon New Testaments in Spanish. We prayed for them and they prayed for us, and they also sang a few songs for us. These children will grow up and raise the next generation to love and honor our Savior Jesus. I often think about the value of a godly heritage, and how godly parents impact generations to come.

I could go on and on, but I just want to know how much your donations impact the lives of these gentle and humble people. Thank you so very much, to each of you, our faithful sponsors, and to every person who gave of their time, talents, and treasure to assist in this endeavor. God bless you for helping us to help others! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts...

Dear friends & partners,

As the apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 1:3-5, "I thank my God upon my every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine, for you all making request with joy for your fellowship in the Gospel..." I also thank God for YOUR fellowship, in prayers and in giving to furthering the Gospel and the Kingdom of God. If you could only have been there with us in Guatemala this June you'd see the precious faces of those who came to the church, Elim Central, in Mixco, Guatemala! They came in need of medical attention and basic necessities, but they received so much more!

You see, "the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost." They came seeking physical help, but they also brought along their emotional and spiritual burdens. You and I cannot begin to imagine the hardships they endure on an everyday basis.

James 2:15-17 tells us 'If a brother or sister be naked or destitute of daily food, and one of you say unto them 'Depart in peace, be ye warm and filled...'; not withstanding you give them not those things which are needful to the body, what doth it profit?' Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." You know that faith is displayed or demonstrated by corresponding action; no action means no faith. It's like the guy who says "I believe in tithing." So, you might ask him "Do you tithe?" Then he answers, "Well, no, but I do believe in the concept." We have all heard the saying, "Actions speak louder than words." No need to belabor the point, the things we DO are what demonstrates to all what we truly believe much more clearly and decisively than what we say. (I know I'm preaching to the choir here).

Anyway, I do want to express my appreciation for your faithfulness in demonstrating your faith to God and your love for His children in Guatemala. Because of your goodness and faithful giving, Guatemalan Evangelical Ministries has been able to send teams to be your hands extended to the poor for 46 years now! (I have been going down personally for 37 years). During that time we have seen the naked, the hungry, the abused, the neglected, the homeless, the sick, and the dying. Our teams have traveled to distant villages and have been invited into the people's homes where we have been able to share this world's goods, and to give them renewed hope, encouragement, and prayer - all because of YOU! Thank you so much for helping us share God's love with those who are so needy.

This year our team of 18 volunteers packed up, along with many other assorted donations, over 2500 pounds of medical equipment, over-the-counter medications, and prescription meds, all kinds of vitamins and supplements, t-shirts, toothbrushes, toothpaste, eye glasses, shoes, socks, dresses, Covid masks, and Spanish New Testaments (generously donated by the Gideons). After the doctors interviewed those in need (with the assistance of a helper/translator) each patient was given the medications and hardware they needed. This included such things as braces for the wrist, ankle, back and knee, as well as canes, walkers, and wheelchairs. One person even had a heart attack right there in the church! It was said, "What better place to have a heart attack, surrounded by a team of medical professionals in a church!" Just think - if our team had not been there that person would not likely have survived!

Once again we are busily preparing for a medical mission to Guatemala. There are about 20 people, trained medical professionals, as well as support workers ticketed and ready to fly south . Each year we are able to see around 1200 people and provide them with an examination and the medicines that they are so much in need of, along with material donations of all kinds. We send them on their way after our prayer team lays hands upon them and proclaims the favor and blessing of the Lord over them and their families. We are so blessed here that we have no realization what they face every day. Thank God for your blessings, but don't forget the poor. This is a Bible admonition from the beginning. Don't forget the poor! Be a doer, and not a hearer only, deceiving yourself. Don't say : be warmed and fed, but give them nothing! That is what the Bible says. Are you a hearer, but not a doer? GEM has been on Facebook for many years now, but has not received one penny from ant Facebook followers, and has not found one volunteer to come alongside to help in our outreaches to support two Christian schools or on our medical teams. But, thank God, He had never let us down. We continue to press forward toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus, being His hands and His feet, sharing His love in Word and in deed. Those that are praying, thank you, and keep up the good work! God IS answering your prayer

s and ours.

Here is our latest partner letter, I hope it blesses you as much as it did for me.

All our team members are packing our bags, and gearing up for the June 10 flight to Guatemala. Encounter Ministries of Pullman, Washington is sending four volunteers to participate in this year's medical outreach. Others are coming from all around the area, and everyone will be bringing over 100 lbs of medical supplies and donations. Also 650 Spanish New Testaments will be distributed, along with smiles, hugs, and prayers. We are expecting supernatural victories in Jesus' name; salvations, healings, and deliverances. Please pray diligently for us each day. The effective fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much! Thank you!!!

June 10th is the departure date for our team of volunteers heading to Guatemala. There are thirteen team members, and each will be bringing 100 pounds of medicines and medical equipment to share with poor and needy families. We will be distributing over 650 Spanish New Testaments, and praying for all those we can. Sometimes it gets a little hectic, for sure. But we are determined to share the love of Jesus in every way we can. His love knows no boundaries, and there is no language barrier in the Spirit. Please keep us in your prayers, for safety, smooth travel arrangements and connections, and for effective ministry to the lost and hurting. The clock is ticking, and we are buying supplies, and filling up our duffel bags, looking forward to the opportunity to serve others in Jesus' name! Maybe YOU will join us next year...

GEM is proud to announce that we have been awarded the "Best of Middleton Award in the Religious Organization category for 2021.

Our original incorporation was established in Middleton Wisconsin in 1976, and corporate headquarters remains there still. We are so blessed to receive this award from the Middleton Award Program.

From the news feed..." Each year, the Middleton Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their...business category. Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2021 Middleton Award Program focuses on quality. not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Middleton Award Program and data provided by third parties."

We thank God for this recognition, and give Him all of the honor for making it happen. And we thank all of our partners and co-laborers for everything you have done to bless others along with us.

Though the covid pandemic is not yet over, it looks like we will be able to organize a medical out reach this summer. Doors are opening and if you are interested please contact us in the next few weeks. We have been able to do a number of repairs on the school building in Santa Lucia, including raising the walls to enable the rain to flow off better, and installing a new roof. Thanks to all who contributed. The work continues despite "temporary light affliction." Glory to God!
