STANDARDS OF LOVE
(Isaiah 59:19)
1Corinthians 13:4–7 📖Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 📖
In a generation where love is often measured by feelings, attraction, gifts, attention, and convenience, God calls us back to a higher standard which AGAPE ( UNCONDITIONAL LOVE )
Love ( AGAPE ) has a standard.
Biblical love is not simply saying, “I love you.” It is allowing the character of Christ to govern the way we see and treat people.
Love is patient when patience is difficult.
Love is kind when kindness is not returned.
Love does not seek to control.
Love does not manipulate.
Love does not rejoice when another person falls.
Love does not keep a record of every offense.
Love chooses truth over deception and forgiveness over bitterness.
Jesus demonstrated this standard perfectly.
He loved people who rejected Him.
He served people who could offer Him nothing.
He forgave those who crucified Him.
The standard of love is therefore not determined by how people treat us, but by how Christ has commanded us to treat them.
🔥 THE STANDARD
1. Love must be sacrificial.
Real love is willing to give. “For God so loved the world, that he gave…” John 3:16.
2. Love must be truthful.
Love does not compromise truth just to keep people comfortable. True love sometimes corrects, confronts, and restores.
3. Love must forgive.
Forgiveness does not mean pretending the offense never happened. It means refusing to allow the offense to become your master.
4. Love must serve.
Jesus said, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” John 13:35.
5. Love must endure.
(AGAPE) love is not sustained only by good feelings. It remains faithful through seasons of difficulty.
⚔️ A HIGHER STANDARD
You cannot claim to carry the presence of Jesus while continually carrying hatred, bitterness, unforgiveness, jealousy, and revenge.
The evidence that Christ is growing in us is not merely how loudly we worship, but how deeply we love.
We are called to love beyond preference.
Love beyond convenience.
Love beyond offense.
Love beyond personality differences.
Because the standard of our love is Christ Himself.
🙏 PRAYER
Lord Jesus, raise the standard of love in me. Deliver me from selfish love, conditional love, and love that depends on how people treat me. Give me the grace to love with patience, truth, forgiveness, sacrifice, and compassion. Let the people around me encounter Your love through my life. Make me a living expression of the love of Christ in my generation. In Jesus' name, Amen.
🔥 DECLARATION
I carry the standard of Christ's love.
I will love beyond feelings.
I will forgive beyond offenses.
I will serve beyond convenience.
I will speak truth with grace.
My life will reveal the love of Jesus to my generation.
I am a standard of love in my generation.
