TOPIC:
THE TRUTH THAT SETS YOU FREE
MEMORISE
If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed (John 8:36).
READ:
John 8: 31-36
[31]. Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, âIf you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
[32]. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.â
[33]. They answered Him, âWe are Abrahamâs descendants, and have never been in bo***ge to anyone. How can You say, âYou will be made freeâ?â
[34]. Jesus answered them, âMost assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.
[35]. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.
[36]. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
EXPOSITION
As Jesus taught, true freedom comes through truth. Freedom of the press helps share the truth, as it brings transparency and helps society to grow. Without it, the truth can be hidden or twisted, leaving people in the dark. Just as Jesus' truth brings spiritual freedom, a free press ensures societal freedom. On World Press Freedom Day 2026, we pray for media workers to continue telling the truth and for press freedom to be protected.
Jesus says, You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free (Jn. 8:32). This freedom is not only physical; it frees us from sin and lies. Jesus also says, I am the way, the truth, and the life (Jn. 14:6). His truth builds a deep relationship with Him, transforming our lives with peace, joy, and love (Rom. 14:17). His Word helps us live with purpose and walk in the Light.
Without Jesus, we are lost in the dark. Through Him, we are free and brought into the eternal light. This freedom is a gift from God when we follow Jesus Christ. Stay committed to His Word daily, it has the power to guide you, set you free, and lead you to the life God has prepared for you.
