Finding Your True Identity

1 Corinthians 1:1-9

Many Christians, especially the youth experience an identity crisis. Though saved, they are not so sure of who they really are; who they belong to; and who they represent. They wonder if they are sinners saved by grace or saints who occasionally sin?

The truth of the matter is : Both statements are true. The first one represents your past identity; and the second your present identity. God looks at your present identity (not the past) and your present is where you belong.

God calls us saints (ref. V.2). Therefore we must always see ourselves as one. We are not the same old sinners who were forgiven and patched up (and yet basically unchanged inside). Once saved, we are forever saved!

My brethren, hear God telling you this morning: “you are a new creature; the old things passed away” (2 Cor. 5:17). When you are born again, you are given a new identity. CHRISTIAN becomes your new 'surname'. You must never go back to the way you once were.

CHANGE THE WAY YOU THINK ABOUT YOURSELF. As a man thinketh so is he.
You belong to Christ,
You are for Christ
You represent Christ
and people must see Christ in you.
Though Satan, your accuser will not relent bombarding you with reminders of your failures and sins, I encourage you to hold on to your faith. Never lose focus on what you have. Continue to tap from God's help. You are a Saint. Recognise that you are a saint. Accept it and live as a saint.

Through Christ Jesus who we find our true identity, I pray this morning that you will be motivated and empowered to obey God and live in your identity as his favorite son.
Its also my prayer that the Devil loses his foothold in your life and accept that you are untouchable.

God bless you, and remain blessed till eternity.

“STANDING OUT AMONG YOUR CO-WORKERS”
SCRIPTURE READING: Daniel 4:1-9; 6:1-3

EXPOSITION:

In our current dispensation, most Christians behave similarly as the unbelievers do at the various work places and institutions. It is sometimes difficult to distinguish between Christians and non-Christians at formal settings.

In our readings today, we see Daniel distinguishing himself among his other co-workers. Daniel chose to behave differently towards his work. He brought on board different initiatives, prudent decision making, honesty, industriousness and many more unique initiatives.

The excellent Spirit of the Lord was in him and upon him; he led exemplary life to the surprise of the kings Nebuchadnezzar, Darius and the other administrators and satraps. With the uniqueness of Daniel, he obtained favour in the sight of the Kings; such that both of them planned to set him over the whole kingdom.

KEY VERSE:

Daniel 6:3 (NIV) – “Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.”

LIFE APPLICATION:

Brethren in the Lord, today’s devotion teaches us to be unique and exclusive at our various work places and institutions. Let us bring on board new productive ideas, creativity, diligence and integrity. These virtues will help us climb to the top of the organizational structure.

PRAYER:

Almighty God, help me to be unique at my work place and among my co-workers.

Every successful person has a painful story and each painful story has a successful ending. Accept the pain and achieve the gain, and don't let little things get you down. Believe in your God-given abilities....God is in control.
A beautiful life does not just happen....It's built daily with love, laughter, sacrifice, patience, grace and forgiveness, among other virtues.
