"TO WIN IN LIFE"

‘…Run in such a way as to get the prize.’ 1 Corinthians 9:24 NIV

WILLIAM ARTHUR Ward wrote: ‘Believe while others are doubting. Plan while others are playing. Decide while others are delaying. Prepare while others are daydreaming. Begin while others are procrastinating. Work while others are wishing. Save while others are wasting. Listen while others are talking. Smile while others are frowning. Persist while others are quitting.’ To win in life requires three things: 1) You must start. That may seem obvious, but many of us are stuck in the starting blocks waiting for something to get us going. What has God called and equipped you to do? Step out and do it, and He will empower you! 2) You must give it your all. Divers in the Olympics don’t save all their effort for their final dive. They concentrate on nailing every single one, increasing their chances for a gold medal. Don’t settle for mediocrity at any stage of life (Philippians 3:14). 3) You must never quit. In the 1992 Olympics, Derek Redmond of Britain was competing in the 400 metre race when he suffered a torn hamstring and fell. As the other runners breezed past him, he began to struggle to his feet. His father, whose face was covered with tears, suddenly ran down from the stands to help him up. Slowly, agonisingly, they made their way around the rest of the track and crossed the finish line as the stadium in Barcelona burst into thunderous applause. Redmond didn’t win a medal, but he won something more important—the respect of the world. The Bible says, ‘Run in such a way as to get the prize.’

"YOU CAN DEFEAT SATAN"

‘Nor give place to the devil.’ Ephesians 4:27 NKJV

SATAN IS a force you’ll contend with every day. And he’s a master at reinventing himself. The Bible says he can morph ‘…into an angel of light’ (2 Corinthians 11:14 NKJV). And while his approach may be appealing, his intent is always to ‘…steal and kill and destroy…’ (John 10:10 NIV). Destroy what? Your peace of mind, your destiny, your relationships, etc. How can you defeat him? In two ways: 1) Don’t fear him. ‘The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil…’ (Psalm 121:7 KJV). Thirty-one times in the New Testament we read that as believers we are ‘in Christ.’ So to get at you, satan must first go through Him! 2) Don’t give him access. ‘Nor give place to the devil.’ Satan has no place in your life unless you open the door and give him one. And when Christ is enthroned in your heart, there’s no room for the devil. But it’s not enough to have a clean heart, you must have a spirit-filled heart. Jesus said: ‘When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, seeking rest but finding none. Then it says, I will return to the person I came from. So it returns and finds its former home empty, swept, and in order. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before…’ (Matthew 12:43-45 NLT). The best way to break bad habits is to replace them with good ones. The best way to defeat satan is to make Jesus Lord of your life.

"ARE YOU DRIFTING OFF COURSE?"

‘…Cross-examine me, O Lord...’ Psalm 26:2 TLB

THE STORY’S told about a guy called Bill who telephoned his boss and said: ‘I believe you’re looking for an experienced, talented, hard-working manager for your front office. I’d like to apply for the job.’ The boss replied, ‘We already have someone in that slot and he’s doing an excellent job. By the way, your voice sounds familiar. What’s your name?’ The guy replied, ‘It’s me, Bill; I was just checking up on myself!’ You need to check up on yourself regularly. The Bible says, ‘We must listen very carefully to the truths we have heard, or we may drift away from them’ (Hebrews 2:1 TLB). That word ‘drift’ should set off alarm bells. It doesn’t happen overnight, but slowly and imperceptibly you drift off course and end up in places you never thought you would be—places you may not be able to get back from. An aeroplane flying just one degree off its assigned flight plan can end up hundreds of miles from its destination. And if it’s out of fuel, it’s only going one place—down. Knowing his propensity to drift and to turn a blind eye to his defects of character, the Psalmist prayed: ‘I have tried to keep your laws and have trusted you without wavering. Cross-examine me, O Lord…test my motives and affections too. For I have taken your loving-kindness and your truth as my ideals’ (Psalm 26:1-3 TLB). Notice the words ‘cross-examine’! Cross-examine what? 1) Your motives, or your reasons for doing things. 2) Your affections, or the things toward which you are being drawn. Are you drifting off course?

"MADE PERFECT THROUGH SUFFERING (1)"

‘…God…made Jesus perfect by suffering...’ Hebrews 2:10 CEV

NONE OF us has come close to experiencing what Jesus endured on the cross, yet we run from suffering. A lost job, a debilitating illness, a painful divorce—none of us escapes. Even ‘Jesus…had to suffer before he could learn what it really means to obey God’ (Hebrews 5:8 CEV). Pain is a learning experience. The Bible says, ‘God…made Jesus perfect by suffering.’ Philip Yancey writes: ‘God understood physical pain, having designed the nervous system that carries it to our brains…But had a Spirit ever felt physical pain? Not until the Incarnation. In thirty-three years on earth Jesus learned about…family squabbles…social rejection…verbal abuse and betrayal. And he learned too about pain. What it feels like to have an accuser leave the red imprint of his fingers on your face…to have a crude iron spike pounded through muscle, tendon, and skin. On earth, God learned all that. And because of Jesus, God hears our groans differently. The author of Hebrews marvelled that whatever we are going through, God has gone through: ‘For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but…one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin’ (Hebrews 4:15 NIV). We have a high priest who graduated from the school of suffering and ‘…is able to be gentle with those who do not understand and who are doing wrong things’ (Hebrews 5:2 NCV)…We need no longer cry into the abyss, ‘Hey, [God], are you listening?’ By joining us on earth, Jesus gave visible, historical proof that God hears our groans and…groans along with us.’ What a comfort!

"DON'T GO UNTIL YOU GET IT"

‘…David inquired again of God...’ 1 Chronicles 14:14 NKJV

THE BIBLE says: ‘David inquired again of God; and God said…”When thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees…go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee” …David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the…Philistines…’ (vv. 14-16). Observe three things in this story: 1) David refused to make a move until he first talked it over with the Lord. Notice the words, ‘David inquired again of God.’ It wasn’t just something he did occasionally or in times of crisis, it was something he did on a regular basis. 2) David waited until he heard a certain sound: ‘A sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees.’ Do you know God well enough to recognise the sound of His voice? With time and testing you can. ‘You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things’ (1 John 2:20 NKJV). Not only will you know what God wants you to do, He will actually create within you the desire to do it. ‘It is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure’ (Philippians 2:13 NKJV). 3) David went, knowing God had gone before him to deal with every obstacle that stood in his way. The Bible says, ‘If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally…’ (James 1:5). Wisdom is ‘the ability to use knowledge so as to successfully meet the challenges of life.’ You may acquire knowledge from books and schools, but this wisdom is a gift from God. Don’t go until you get it!

"KNOW YOUR ENEMY (2)"

‘There is another power within me that is at war with my mind...’ Romans 7:23 NLT

TODAY LET'S talk about: The enemy within. Your old nature is like a fifth column, always looking for ways to sabotage you. It’s the door through which satan enters. You have two natures, an old one and a new one. They are opposite, and they are always on a collision course. A great illustration of this can be found in the birth of Jacob and Esau. ‘…Rebekah became pregnant with twins. But the two children struggled with each other in her womb. So she went to ask the Lord about it. ”Why is this happening to me?” she asked. And the Lord told her, ”The sons in your womb will become two nations. From the very beginning, the two nations will be rivals. One nation will be stronger than the other; and your older son will serve your younger son’’’ (Genesis 25:21-23 NLT). Paul talks about his ‘Dr. Jekyll’ nature and his ‘Mr. Hyde’ nature. ‘I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to sin that is still within me’ (Romans 7:22-23 NLT). What’s the answer? Starve your old nature and feed your new one! Again Paul writes: ‘No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier’ (2 Timothy 2:4). That means you must: 1) Regularly communicate with headquarters through prayer. 2) Read God’s Word to be sure you’re obeying your Commanding Officer. 3) Keep your spiritual morale high. 4) Not get entangled with the wrong people or things.

"KNOW YOUR ENEMY (1)"

‘…Endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.’ 2 Timothy 2:3

THE NEW birth creates a battle between your old nature and your new one. When you were redeemed, you were recruited into this battle. And it begins the moment your eyes open each morning. The big question is, will you hold up or fold up? Victory depends on knowing your enemy’s strategy and having a plan to deal with it. As a follower of Christ the attack you face each day is twofold. First, there is the attack that comes from without. ‘…Know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God’ (James 4:4). Now that doesn’t mean distancing yourself from your unchurched friends and denouncing all their activities. Nor does it mean adopting a holier-than-thou attitude toward them. It means that instead of the culture affecting you negatively, you engage and influence it positively, like light in darkness. Susanna Wesley defined ‘worldliness’ as four things: 1) ‘Whatever dulls the sensitivities of my spirit toward God, or takes the fine edge off my thought of Him—must be ruled out for He is my Lord. 2) Whatever injures and weakens my body, or affects the mastery of it—must be ruled out for it is the temple of the Lord. 3) Whatever adversely affects the clearness of my witness to Jesus Christ before others—must be ruled out for it was His parting wish that I should be a witness of Him. 4) Whatever may cause my brother to stumble in his Christian life—must be ruled out for that would grieve Jesus.’

"GIVE YOUR CHILDREN CONVICTIONS TO LIVE BY"
“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NIV

ARE YOU trying to keep your children under lock and key in order to keep them out of trouble? It won’t work. You’re not keeping them out of trouble, you’re simply postponing it. Things like curfews, dress codes, internet use, and checking up on their friends are part of good parenting. But when you are not around to guide them, they need sound principles to live by. And those principles can be found in God’s Word: “Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes” (vv. 6-9 MSG). Isn’t it interesting how each succeeding generation views the previous one as old fashioned and out of date? And that’s not all bad. Every generation believes there is a better way to do things, and that is the foundation for progress. That’s why getting from New York City to Los Angeles takes only six hours by plane instead of three weeks by steamship. God’s Word can stand the test of scrutiny. So instead of shutting them down, invite your children to ask questions and challenge assumptions, then help them arrive at solid scriptural convictions to live by. As a parent there is no greater gift you can give them.

"HAVING JOB SECURITY (1)"
“Those who work…will have abundant food.” Proverbs 12:11 NIV

IF YOU think the perfect life would be one in which you didn’t have to work, think again. God created the garden of Eden, then He created Adam, then He told Adam that his job was to take care of it. Why? Because work gives dignity and meaning to our lives. That’s why the Bible says, “Those who work…will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies have no sense” (v. 11 NIV). For the next few days, let’s talk about how to have job security. In 2010 the unemployment rate in America was about 10 percent (approximately fifteen million workers). With statistics like those, it’s easy to see why so many of us live in fear of becoming unemployed. The fear of losing your job is rooted in the following core fears. Lack: “How will I meet my obligations?” Inadequacy: “I’m not good enough.” Helplessness: “What do I do now?” Loneliness: “I’ll be isolated from my social network.” For some, the shame and humiliation of losing a job is as devastating as the loss of income. Fretting about being fired can become a self-fulfilling prophecy because its anxiety makes you less efficient and effective. So if you live with the constant fear of losing your job, it’s time to stop worrying and start developing a strategy that will enhance your position on the job or assure you of a soft landing if you get laid off. Your first and foremost strategy must be to trust in God’s faithfulness: “The Lord your God will then make you successful in everything you do….The Lord will again delight in being good to you…if you obey his voice” (Deuteronomy 30:9-10 NLT).

Holy Bible [Psalms 121:7-8]
Amplified Bible (AMP)

👇🏽
_*The LORD will protect you from all evil; HE will keep your life. The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in [everything that you do] From this time forth and forever.*_
👆🏽
Who can tell exactly his or her contributions in sleeping or waking up. It is all by GOD’s Grace. None of us seriously speaking, has a part in them. Of course many might have passed on for lack of knowledge in the sense that, they allowed themselves into the enemy’s camp or led certain lifestyles that catapulted them out of the covering of GOD onto death.
These behaviours and lifestyles not withstanding, others have also led a very careful and good lifestyles but yet died suddenly and painfully. So probably that’s why _*Ecclesiastes9:11*_ says that, in this world of ours;
▪️ _the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding, nor favour to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all._
Where time and chance in this context, refers to the Grace and Mercy of GOD. It is not how careful and or meticulous we may be [even though it’s good to be] but it is all by GOD’s Divine Power.
Despite these admonitions, YAHWEH never leaves HIS people in vacuum to perish just like flies, but has set some standards by which we should live and last longer on Earth, whilst enjoying HIS Goodies of life. One such directive is in *_Psalm118:17_*
_I shall not die, but live, and declare the Works of the LORD. The LORD hath chastened me sore: but HE hath not given me over unto death._ —a truly dedicated service to HIM!
So let us always share and or declare HIS Word for our lives progress here on Earth.

YAHWEH bless us all
