Tribute in Honour of the Late Catechist Seth Kofi Dzeble by Cynthia Dzandu
“Blessed are the dead, who die in the Lord from now on. They will rest from their labours, for their deeds will follow them” (Revelation 14:13).
I pay this tribute with a heavy heart but a grateful spirit to honour a true shepherd, a man of faith, punctuality, and unshakable hope. Mr. Seth Kofi Dzeble was known to many as the head of the Teshie E.P. Church, but to the Danku family, he was a guide and a faithful friend. Cate, as he was popularly known as worked hand-in-hand with my dad, Presbyter Emmanuel Ellis Danku. He loved, cared deeply for us and stood up as my spiritual father.
To me personally, he once said, ‘Cynthia, I have been assigned to you as your spiritual father.’ He spoke blessings over my life, prayed for me, and assured me to call on him, if I ever needed his help. This gesture was so reassuring that I always believed that my spiritual father who seemed so trustworthy had me on his prayer list and did always say one on my behalf.
He was a builder, a comforter and a man of his word. When the church faced storms, he stood firm, gave hope, his residence, and guided all until he saw it grow into what it is today. He lived what he preached, no excuses, only SERVICE, (service to God and mankind). His legacy is the church he strengthened and the lives he touched including MINE.
Though he has gone on to glory, his prayers, example, and love remain with us.
Papa Cate, we will continue to sing your favourite hymn and prayer,
‘O Yesu lem de asi nyuie, nena kplorm yi, sede madzo le afisia yi mavor me’,
for we know your belief in this hymn and the God-factor in your life guarded you until this day where he has called you to eternity. Hede nyuie Papa, dzudzor le nutifafa me. Amen.
