IMPACT WORD DEVOTIONAL FOR THE WEEK
LET THE SCALES FALL OFF
Acts 9:15-19
But the Lord said to Ananias, "Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. "I will show him how much he must suffer for my name." "Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord-Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here-has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit." Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized," and after taking some food, he regained his strength.
Jesus often referred to the Scribes and Pharisees as blind. Yes, you can have your eyes wide open and still walk in blindness. That kind of blindness is more serious than physical blindness. There are people who are physically blind but are more alive to life than people seeing physically. You cannot for example listen to the music of blind Marylin Baker and not get spiritually blessed.
Saul of Tarsus was an example of a man whose eyes were open but was spiritually blind. He was so blind he was hitting hard at Jesus and thought he was doing the will of God. If you read about Paul in the Book of Acts and in his writings, you realize he never stopped talking about the light from heaven, brighter than the sun at noonday. That is what it takes to remove the scales off people's eyes - all who the
devil has blinded.
