🗓️ TUESDAY 26TH MAY

👉🏼 (Reading: Ecclesiastes 9:10)

📖 *WHATEVER YOUR HAND FINDS TO DO, DO IT WELL*

📜 _"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom"_
*_Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NIV)._*

📋 I have been on tasks with people who did not give regard to excellence. Worst, to them, there's plenty of time to life to repeat the same assignments forgetting that when death calls, they cannot do any of life's duties again. Today's focus verse reminds us that life is short, and we must make the most of every opportunity. Whether you are a student, an employee, a business person, a parent, etc, God calls you to give your best effort in whatever task is before you. Are you a chef? Do not neglect the fine details of meal preparation, else your food will be tasteless. Carefully choose the best ingredients and cook with passion and your meal will nourish and be a delight. If you are a teacher, dedicate yourself to your students to impact their lives for generations. A worker who performs his or her job diligently glorifies God, even in the simplest tasks. Jesus exemplified diligence and commitment in his ministry. In what areas of your life have you been giving less than your best? What must you change today? Time, they say, waits for no man.

🔑 *Key Lesson:* Live with purpose and diligence, acknowledging that when life ends, all tasks cease.

🛐 *Meditation and Prayer:* Lord, help me perform all tasks
diligently and promptly.

📖 *THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT*

📜 _"When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting"_ *_Acts 2:1-2 (NIV)._*

📋 Pentecost marks a pivotal moment in the church's life-when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the apostles and the other believers gathered in Jerusalem. What was once a small, fearful group of disciples was transformed into a powerful, bold witness for Christ. The Holy Spirit gave them the courage to proclaim the gospel in different languages, and the church grew rapidly. The Holy Spirit's arrival on Pentecost is not just a historical event; it is a reminder of the ongoing presence and power of the Spirit in the life of every believer. The same Spirit who empowered the apostles is available today, to guide, teach and empower us to live the life Christ has called us to. The Spirit helps us in our weaknesses, intercedes for us in prayer, and equips us with spiritual gifts to serve the body of Christ. As we reflect on Pentecost, we are reminded that we are not alone in our mission. We have the power of the Holy Spirit to help us carry out the Great Commission. Ask for a fresh in-filling of the Holy Spirit today.

🔑 *Key Lesson:* Pentecost is the celebration of the Holy Spirit's empowerment, by which we are equipped to boldly live out and share the gospel.

🛐 *Meditation and Prayer:* Holy Spirit, empower me to boldly live out my faith and share the love of Christ with others.

📖 *INVITE THE HOLY SPIRIT*

📜 _"And behold, I send forth the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city, until ye be clothed with power from on high"_
*_Luke 24:49 (AS)._*

📋 Have you received the promise of the Lord, the Holy Spirit? The promise is that when the Holy Spirit comes, he will lead us into all truth and endue us with power from on high. The Lord said, "And behold, I send forth the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city, until ye be clothed with power from on high" Luke 24:49 (ASV). On the day of Pentecost, this promise was fulfilled and it changed all the disciples. For us believers, receiving the Holy Spirit is a matter of faith in Jesus and his word. Jesus told his disciples to wait until they receive the Holy Spirt. In their waiting, they fasted and prayed in preparation for his coming. We must also prepare ourselves in readiness for him to fill us. We must do this through prayer and fasting. Even after his first in-filling, we must from time to time ask him to fill us the more. We need to be expectant always for the Holy Spirit to infill us. This expectation keeps us prepared in holiness for him to dwell in our hearts. This indwelling is his supernatural presence which is accompanied with his power and gifts to become faithful witnesses. Ask him to fill you afresh today.

🔑 *Key Lesson:* The Holy Spirit is Jesus' Promised Comforter, who gives us strength to live victoriously.

🛐 *Meditation and Prayer:* Holy Spirit, fill me afresh today.
Enable me to do your works with power.

📖 *LOVE DOES NO HARM*

📜 _"Love does no harm to a neighbor Therefore, love is the fulfilment of the law"_
*_Romans 13:10 (NIV)._*

📋 Have you ever been so hurt that you felt you had no choice but to confront the offender? Or have you ever decided to retaliate against someone who hurt you? Throughout life, many people will hurt us in one way or the other. When someone offends or deeply wounds us, how should we respond? Should we retaliate and harbour hatred, or is there a better approach? Our focus verse reminds us, "Love does no harm to a neighbor:"As children of God, filled with his love (Romans 5:5), we must not harbour hatred toward others. Retaliation is not in line with Christ's teachings; instead, we should strive to forgive those who offend us and seek ways to resolve our differences peacefully. God's love does not contemplate ways to harm others; instead, it focuses on how to uplift and unite people. We should always aim to build each other up in love rather than inflict. harm. When we walk in love towards others, we fulfil God's law; as Paul says, love is the fulfilment of the law. God enjoins us to walk in love towards our loved ones and enemies. It is not going to be easy, but God's grace is sufficient for us to help us. Do you think about ways to uplift people who have hurt you with their actions?

🔑 *Key Lesson:* Love works no ill against one's neighbour.

🛐 *Meditation and Prayer:* Father, let me never hate or retaliate against those who hurt me.

📖 *DO NOT JUDGE II*

📜 _...and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted him"_
*_Romans 14:3 (NIV)._*

📋 The Bible teaches us not to judge others, though sinful
behaviour by Christians must be condemned and even punished (1 Corinthians 5:9-13). Our focus verse today advises those weak in faith not to judge those who are strong in it. It states: "... and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted him." God accepts those who eat everything out of their faith because their faith is grounded in his word. Just because you lack the belief or faith to do certain things or have chosen not to do them because of your faith, does not mean that someone who has built his or her faith in that area should refrain from doing so. The Bible encourages those who are weak in faith not to judge the actions of those who are strong in the faith. Each of us, as believers, is driven by our faith in God. The text reminds us that God's word should fully persuade each person regarding their beliefs and actions. If we could all be fully convinced based on the word of God about what we believe or do, there would be no divisions within the body of Christ. Do you find yourself judging those who are strong in faith?

🔑 *Key Lesson:* Judging people brings about division in the body of Christ.

🛐 *Meditation and Prayer:* Father, help me not to judge others.

📖 *DO NOT JUDGE I*

📜 _"The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, ... for God has accepted him"_
*_Romans 14:3 (NIV)._*

📋 Undeniably, the just shall live by their faith, which is grounded in the word of God. Our faith in God's word varies from individual to individual. You may have faith that God will do one thing or the other, depending on your level of belief, and by that same faith, you might reject certain things. Conversely, your neighbour, based on their level of faith, may embrace what you have rejected. As stated in Romans 14:3, The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, for God has accepted him." Those who are more mature in faith should learn not to judge or condemn those who are weaker in faith. We must not look down on the weak in faith. According to the Bible, God has accepted the weak in faith because their beliefs are rooted in his word. They understand the word differently from those who are more mature in their faith. This variation in faith is not a sin, so God instructs us not to judge others based on it. Instead, let us learn to encourage the weak in faith to grow in the Lord. Have you been judging those who are weaker in faith?

🔑 *Key Lesson:* When we judge others by our faith, we may discourage them.

🛐 *Meditation and Prayer:* Father, help me not to judge others in what they do.

📖 *DEPEND ON THE HOLY SPIRIT*

📜 _"For it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you"_
*_Matthew 10:20 (NIV)._*

📋 Every believer has been given the Holy Spirit, and he lives in us. The Holy Spirit, like God the Father, is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. Therefore, as believers, it is not enough to know that the Holy Spirit is present in our lives; we must also learn to depend on him for everything we need and do. God sent the Holy Spirit to be our helper, assisting us in our endeavours, including the words we speak. Jesus emphasized this when he said: "For it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.' Earlier, he instructed his disciples not to worry about what to say if brought before kings, assuring them that the Holy Spirit would provide the needed words. If we can trust the Holy Spirit for our words, we can trust him for all other needs. He is ready to give us counsel regarding our day-to-day activities. At school, he is there to teach and help us understand. He is there to guide us in our marriages and businesses and help us navigate our work for maximum profit. May we learn to depend on him for everything and, in doing so, not worry about anything in this life. Are you depending on the Holy Spirit?

🔑 *Key Lesson:* The Holy Spirit will give us utterance when we lack what to say.

🛐 *Meditation and Prayer:* Holy Spirit, I depend on you for
everything.

📖 *ARE YOU MAKING DISCIPLES?*

📜 _"He sent two of his helpers, Timothy and Erastus, to Macedonia, while he stayed in the province of Asia a little longer"_
*_Acts 19:22 (NIV)._*

📋 The Great Commission, given by Jesus to all his followers, calls us to make disciples of all nations. These disciples are converts to begin with, and we are to teach and train them in the word of God to become Christlike in every aspect of their lives. A Christian who makes other into disciples is fruitful and, in turn, fulfils the Great Commission. In Acts 19:22, we see that Paul sent two of his disciples, Timothy and Erastus, to Macedonia while he stayed in the province of Asia a bit longer. Paul was a disciple-maker, actively training disciples wherever he went to preach the gospel and thus fulfilled his part of the Great Commission. Ask yourself today, "Am I making disciples for Christ?" Do you have converts that you are teaching and nurturing to become Christlike? If the answer is no, then you are not being a fruitful Christian and, therefore, not fulfilling your part of the Great Commission, which is nec essary for all believers. As children of God, we must strive to be fruitful in his service, and one essential way to achieve this is by making disciples for Christ. Our core mandate on earth as believers is to make disciples of all nations. So, seek out some converts today and disciple them for Christ. In doing so, you will become a more fruitful believer. Are you currently nurturing anyone to become Christlike?

🔑 *Key Lesson:* Discipleship is our core mandate on earth as believers.

🛐 *Meditation and Prayer:* Father, help me focus on discipleship.

📖 *GOD DESERVES ALL THE GLORY*

📜 _"And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost"_
_*Acts 12:23 (KJ).*_

📋 God demands all the glory for everything he does for us because he is the source of everything we have. Therefore, we must cultivate the habit of giving God the glory for all our achievements, regardless of the area or level of success. It is essential to recognise that failing to give God what rightfully and lawfully belongs to him amounts to robbing him. We risk attracting his anger and punishment when we neglect to acknowledge God's role in our successes. A clear example of this can be found in Acts 12:23, which recounts the story of King Herod. He delivered a remarkable speech that captivated his audience, yet he accepted the praise of men for himself instead of giving it to God. As a result, he was struck down by an angel of the Lord and died instantly. If we fail to give glory to God for the things he has given or done for us, we may face his punishment. However, when we honour him with our gratitude, he will bestow even more grace upon us, enabling us to excel even more in all our endeavours. Do you give God the glory he deserves?

🔑 *Key Lesson:* If we fail to give God the glory, we will attract his anger.

🛐 *Meditation and Prayer:* Father, I give you all the glory in
Jesus' name.

📖 *THE ASCENSION OF JESUS*

📜 _"After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight"_
*_Acts 1:9 (NIV)._*

📋 The Ascension of Jesus, which we celebrate 40 days after Easter, marks the moment when Jesus ascended into heaven in the presence of his disciples. After spending forty days with them, teaching and commissioning them to spread the Gospel, Jesus was taken up into the sky, leaving his followers with the promise of the Holy Spirit and his eventual return. The Ascension marks the completion of Jesus' earthly ministry. His work of redemption was finished, and he now reigns with the Father in glory. It is a powerful reminder that while Jesus is not physically present on earth, he is now spiritually present with us through the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to carry out the mission he entrusted to us. The Ascension also holds great significance for our hope in the future. Just as Jesus ascended into heaven, the angels promised that he would return in the
same way. This gives us a hopeful expectation of his second coming when he will return in glory to establish his eternal Kingdom. As we reflect on the Ascension, we are reminded that Jesus is reigning as King, and we are called to live in the light of his rule. The Ascension calls us to be witnesses of his love and truth, anticipating his return.

🔑 *Key Lesson:* The Ascension reminds us that Jesus reigns in glory and promises to return.

🛐 *Meditation and Prayer:* Lord, thank you for ascending to the Father. Help me to live in the hope of your return.

📖 *BE AN EXAMPLE TO OTHERS*

📜 _"For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you ... We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate"_
*_2 Thessalonians 3:7,9 (NIV)._*

📋 To glorify God as Christians, we need to be intentional about being an example to others to follow. That's what the Apostle Paul did. As a believer, he chose to live a Christlike life in order be a pattern for other believers to follow. In today's focus text, he says, "For you yourselves know how you ought follow our example ... We did this order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate." One good example Paul set while he was with the believers in Thessalonica was
hard work. This is his own testimony: We were not idle.when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, labouring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you" (vv.7-8). It honours God when believers intentionally choose to live such a godly life that they become models for others to imitate. We can follow Paul's example by deciding to offer ourselves as models for others to follow in several ways. For instance, we can choose to be truthful, holy and humble. Determine to live an exemplary life.

🔑 *Key Lesson:* It pleases God to see his children living an
exemplary life.

🛐 *Meditation and Prayer:* Lord, empower me to be a godly model.
