IN A LITTLE WHILE.
Hebrews 10:37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
Many are the years which have elapsed, since the Lord's fervent promise was given; "In my Father's house are many mansions:if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am there ye may be also" [John 14:2,3]
As many many Christians have cherished this tenderest hope in their hearts, they are not disappointed, for with the Lord a thousand years seems as but a little moment.
Now more than ever we have seen in our very eyes the words of GOD being vindicated. Countless truths have been confirmed, buttressed and evinced by occurrences which have proven God's word to be so true. Our Lord declared things that will precede His coming, and lo they have taken place so mightily.
Happenings upon happenings have presented before us the credibility of God's word. We have a " more sure word of prophecy" that the Lord has been pleased to give to us. Do we then despise these prophecies?
"Despise not prophesyings" the Apostle Paul ardently admonished.[1 Thessalonians 5:20]
" Wars and rumours of wars." "Famines and pestilences in divers places"; "with the waves and sea roaring distress of nations", we are told as we see heightened versions of these developments, we should "look up and lift your up heads; for your redemption draweth nigh".[Luke 21:28]
Series of events in manifold circumstances have transpired across our world. And as the days go by, we only see them getting exacerbated and nothing more.
We are on the brink of a stupendous crises and here are we in a perilous times because as Paul said:
2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Are we not experiencing difficulties in our daily transactions, with our fellow men and women?
We are in a world where for the time being truth has been supplanted by error. But remember this, God's word says:
Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Truly men love not the truth, truth which are it is said:
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Psalms 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
God's word which determines His will to man is ill-treated, the way and only truth to God(Christ), and His holy Law have been matters of little importance to men and women in our time.
It is required for all humanity to adhere to the call,
"Fear God and keep His commandments: For this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it is evil." [ECCLESIASTICS 12:13,14]
God has kept long because "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some men count slackness, but is longsuffering to us-ward, not wiling that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" [2 Peter 3:9]
Now is the time to make amends, now is the time to get right with our Maker, for tomorrow is not promised. Let us make our calling and election sure.
We should ever watch and pray lest we enter into temptation, because the time is at hand.
We should ever be "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ."[Titus 2:13].
May our hopes never be relinquished, for " yet a little while and he that shall come will come." And surely,
Psalms 50:3 Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. 50:4 He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.
Amen, SHALOM and MARANATHA!
