There have been diseases like covid-19 in the Bible, except that it was restricted in it's reach. It was always within a nation.

Could you imagine a whole country (Egypt) covered with blood? The Nile, the mainstay of Egypt had been turned to blood. Every body of water had been turned to blood. All fishes in the Nile and in all bodies of water were dead. And the whole country was stinking. How long do you think it would take to clear this mess? How long would it take to recover economically?

That was in Egypt.

One day, there was a plaque like this covid-19. Many Israelites contracted the disease but only ten people died.

NUMBERS 14
37 Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD.

On another ocassion, when the Israelites were on their journey in the wilderness, God in His wisdom rained manna, which they were to use to prepare their meals, and none of them was ever feeble. But as it will always be the case, some people came together and rebelled against Moses and Aaron. They wanted to eat meat. God gave them meat but in anger God sent a disease among them.

NUMBERS 11
32 And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
33 And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.
34 And he called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah: BECAUSE THERE THEY BURIED THE PEOPLE THAT LUSTED.

There are many others, but the trend is the same.

(1) All these plagues came from God. I am yet to see one sent by the devil. The devil will only induce man to do something that will bring a plague. He does not bring the plague.
Read 2Chronicles 21.

(2). The plagues affects all lot of people, sometimes including the innocent, but it only killed those that it was meant to kill, especially (though it might not be exclusive to) those who had sinned against God.

With this revelation all you need to do is to ask for God's mercy.

HEBREWS 4
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

YOU AND YOUR PASTOR (II)
And He tells the congregation that they ought to submit to their Pastors.
Hebrews 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Your Pastor represents a covering, a canopy of protection, so to say, over you, as a father to his household.
2Kings 2:3 And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace. (Underlining is mine).
Anyone who is at loggerheads with his Pastor, any member who resents or hates him, does so at his own spiritual peril. This is because that man just removed his head from under spiritual covering. He has just run away from the shadow shielding him from the heat of the spiritual sun. He is running away from a covering from the storms of life.
Isaiah 4:5 And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence.
6 And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.
And so it you are in a church and you resent or hate your Pastor, you would do well to leave the church and go where you will bond with the Pastor and establish a positive soul tie with him.

YOU AND YOUR PASTOR (I)

Can a Christian, who is a bona-fide member of a church, choose or afford to ignore, or resent, or out-rightly hate his Pastor, and continue to enjoy the benefits of church attendance?
Let us leave the Bible to answer the question.
1Samuel 19:20 And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied. (Emphasis is mine).
The Pastor plays a very important role in every church service. He stands appointed over the congregation by the Lord. Saul’s messengers could not take David because he was under the covering of his father in the Lord, Samuel. Acts 20:28 confirms this.
After about ten years In ministry as an evangelist while still in the Anglican Church, the Lord told me to start a church. You might not know how difficult it is for an evangelist to Pastor a church. I told God that would be difficult. I might build a church and scatter it myself. He told me to read passages in the Bible which spoke about the sheep and the shepherd. While at it I read, where in Genesis 32, Jacob addressed Laban. Amongst other things, he said,
Genesis 31:38 This twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she goats have not cast their young, and the rams of thy flock have I not eaten. 39 That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bare the loss of it; of my hand didst thou require it, whether stolen by day, or stolen by night.
There, the Spirit of God spoke to me and said, “Know that you will give account of their souls.” The word of God confirms this.
Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Job 5:21 Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh. (scourge – curse, afflict, thorn on your side, terrorise, plague)

1. There are people who release terror, curse, thorn on your side, plagues, etc., into your life.
David reacted to Ahithophel:
Psalm 55:12 For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; Then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; Then I could hide from him.
13 But it was you, a man my equal, My companion and my acquaintance.
14 We took sweet counsel together, And walked to the house of God in the throng.
15 Let death seize them; Let them go down alive into hell, For wickedness is in their dwellings and among them.

2. It is only God Who can hide you from the effect of tongues
Psalm 31:20 You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence From the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

Psalm 91:1 ¶ He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

4 That they may shoot in secret at the blameless; Suddenly they shoot at him and do not

Their tongue has been so trained that the only thing it can do is to destroy
• With bitter words
• They don’t care if you are righteous or not

They steal your good works
They soak it in the mud

2Samuel 23:2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.
The tongue is the leverage (force, power) that propel words.
1. Let their tongues become continually weak and ineffective
2. Even where hell gives them words to use (James 3:6) , let not their tongue be able to effectively release it.

Jeremiah 5:13 And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.
1. Let the words that come out of their mouth against me be just wind…nothing more but wind
2. Deny their words of power, even when they use words from the bible

Psalm 12:3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, And the tongue that speaks proud things,
4 Who have said, "With our tongue we will prevail; Our lips are our own; Who is lord over us?"
5 "For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, Now I will arise," says the LORD; "I will set him in the safety for which he yearns."

1. Let the evil doers never prevail with their tongue
2. Let them ever fail whenever they use the tongue
3. Lord, deliver me from the scourge of their tongue
