TIMING

READ: Ecclesiastes 3:1-11

And he shall be like a tree...that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Psalm 1:3

All of God's blessings have their season. Church growth has a season. Promotion has a season. Personal prosperity has a season.

A mature Christian knows that the blessings he desires will not come overnight. He is prepared to stay at it until the breakthrough and promotion arrive. If you cannot wait for your God-given promotion, you are not mature. I have had to wait many years for many things.

If you cannot wait for the mangoes on your tree to be ripe, you are never going to enjoy them. You will always pluck them off before they are ripe. Mind you, unripe mangoes are very different from ripe ones.

I know of a pastor who bought a very expensive car. For several months, he had to use the entire income of the church to pay off the debt. This caused ripples in the church.

Funds were raised in a desperate attempt to pay for this expensive car. In the end a blessing turned into a controversy.

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end" (Ecclesiastes 3:1,11).

In His time, God makes all things beautiful. Be prepared to wait for your season.

READ: Luke 19:12-27

And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.

Luke 19:24

Paul was someone who felt he would get into all sorts of trouble if he did not preach the Gospel “...yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel” (1 Corinthians 9:16). He was not wrong! Indeed, I think I can say those words with Paul.

Every minister who does not take the leading of the Spirit seriously will open himself to all sorts of dangerous attacks. He will be in danger of losing the anointing! A minister must obey the voice of God to avoid having the gift taken away. “And he said unto them that stood by, TAKE FROM HIM THE POUND, and give it to him that hath ten pounds” (Luke 19:24). Dear man of God, do not think that you are indispensable. If you do not do what God wants you to do, your ministry will be taken away from you and given to another. Read it for yourself ! Take from him the pound! If God gave you a pound, He can take it back when He wants to.

Pastors seem to enjoy hiding behind Romans 11:29: “For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. They think that God will never take away His anointing. What this Scripture means is that God does not change His mind about you. He never changes His decision to call you or use you. He never changes His decision to anoint you.

Keep the gift of God by obeying His call! Be sensitive to His voice! Do what He tells you to do and you will succeed in ministry! Do what is hard and difficult rather than what is nice and easy!

READINESS
Dag Heward-Mills
READ: Matthew 24:36-51
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Matthew 24:44
The Bible warns us that because we don't know the day or the hour Christ will come, we must be ready all the time. The key word here is preparation and readiness."...thus will I do unto thee,...because I will do this unto thee, PREPARE to meet thy God..." (Amos 4:12).
In Luke 12, there is the story of a man who had a successful business. He decided to build bigger barns to store his goods. In our time this would be equivalent to opening new bank accounts. When he completed his projects, he said to himself, "Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years. Take thine ease, eat, drink and be merry." God reacted immediately from Heaven and said, "...This night thy soul shall be required of thee."God is showing us here that there is just a step between life and death.
I was once in a hospital ward with one of my assistant pastors when we happened to see the body of a little baby who had just died. Although it was a tiny baby who had just began to live, it died. That baby was not too young to die.
Dear Christian friend, do not put off your godly obligations because you think you are still young and there is more time. You never know when God will summon you to account for your life. "...thus will I do unto thee...Because I will do this unto thee...PREPARE to meet thy God" (Amos 4:12).

NO AGREEMENT

by Dag Heward-Mills

READ: Genesis 3:1-19

And Jesus answered...man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Luke 4:3,4

Many people are held in bo***ge because their thinking pattern agrees with demonic deceptions. People are kept in bo***ge as long as their minds fully agree with the ideas that come from Satan. Unfortunately, the thoughts of many believers are in agreement with Satan because we do not study or believe the Word.

When a person is full of thoughts of discontentment, criticism, and hatred, the demon of divorce can easily control affairs. It will not be long before the demon leads them out to the divorce courts.

Our natural thoughts for revenge, unforgiveness, despair, depression and fear are very much in consonance with the spirit of sickness, disease and even death. This is why the Word of God is so important. It keeps us in full disagreement with the devil's sly and vague suggestion.

It is very easy to agree with satanic delusions. Many times, we are caught unawares as we drift along and agree with unbiblical suggestions.

This is where steadfastness comes in. Steadfastness is actually derived from a navy term which means to stay on course. It also means to come back to course after you have made a deviation. We all tend to go on excursions from time to time but the spirit of steadfastness must bring us back on course after any deflection. Put your foot down and disagree with any thing that is demonic.

EMPLOYEES

READ: Proverbs 6:4-11
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
Proverbs 6:6
If you are the type of worker who needs no supervision, you can be paid the additional money that would have been paid to your supervisor. If your employer needs to employ someone to supervise you, then your supervisor will be paid more to ensure that you work well.
No employer needs a worker who has to be told when it’s time for him to wake up, when to come to work, and how to work. However, the more somebody can work without supervision, the more the employer values such a person.
I watched a documentary of an American airline (a Boeing 757 ) which crashed somewhere in South America. During the flight, the co-pilot was the one flying the plane, and not the captain. One survivor recounted that he heard the co-pilot saying, “We are approaching the airport. The weather is very good, visibility is clear, and there is no problem.” Suddenly, they heard a loud bang and the lights went out. This survivor woke up later on in the hospital. It was a terrible accident and almost everybody was killed. There were only four survivors!
The recorded conversation between the captain and the copilot was revealing. He was terribly lost. This caused the plane to crash into a mountain. Unfortunately, the co-pilot needed to be supervised constantly in order to avoid killing many people. If the captain himself had been flying the plane, it might have been a different story. If you are reliable enough to work without supervision, you will rise.

THE LORD'S SUPPER
Dag Heward-Mills
READ: 1 Corinthians 11:17-34
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
1 Corinthians 11:26
Many people are ungrateful for what they have. They do not value God. They do not value the church, the pastors, or their teachers. They do not value anybody who helps them. It is only a few people who remember, and are grateful for what was done for them.
A pastor can sacrifice the best part of his life for his congregation. He can take time off to pray for them, counsel them, and nurture them with the Word. He will give all of his time to them at the expense of his family. However, it is amazing that many people do not value what the pastor does for them. They easily forget the sacrifice he made on their behalf.
Jesus knew that we could easily forget the price He paid on the cross, so He instituted the Lord's Supper. The Lord's Supper is intended to remind us of the true founder of the Christian church. Other people could easily overshadow Christ if we allow it. The pastor is not the hero of the church, Christ is!
At weddings, I administer communion to the bride and groom. Why do I do this? In that moment of their great joy,I want us all to remember that the marriage was made possible by Christ our Saviour. I want us to remember Christ and be grateful to Him!
Let us be grateful to Him ! One result of ungratefulness is that it opens the door to all sorts of plagues. "Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house"(Proverbs 17:13).

WOUNDS
Dag Heward-Mills
READ: Hebrews 12 :12-15..lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you ...
Hebrews 12:15
Many people who walk out of a church are offended Christians who became bitter. They were probably genuinely offended, but their wounds never healed.
One morning, as I chatted with a doctor in a hospital, I noticed that one of his toes was missing. So I asked, "What happened to your toe? "He answered, "I am a diabetic patient, and I once had an injury to that toe. You know, the wounds of some diabetic patients do not easily heal."
He continued, "I hit my toe against an object, but after sometime the wound did not heal. This wound deteriorated until it affected my whole leg." He lamented about how the doctors had even considered amputating his whole leg. However, in the end they decided to cut off only the toe in question. "It was a very traumatic experience for me. That's how I ended up without a toe," he concluded.
As I mused over the story of this missing toe, the Spirit of God spoke to me and said, "This is what happens to Christians who get hurt and never fully recover from their hurts."
The Holy Spirit showed me how many Christians and pastors allow their hurts to degenerate into unhealed, gangrenous wounds of the heart. He continued, "They separate themselves from other Christians in the name of being cautious and not wanting to be hurt all over again. This separation eventually leads to total isolation from the body of Christ, which is backsliding."

YOUR TUTOR?
Dag Heward-Mills
READ: Ecclesiastes 1:9,10..as he is, so are we in this world.
1 John 4:17
Indeed there is nothing new under the sun. This is a fact that you must accept. You have nothing new to offer and your life will not introduce anything special.
The truth about my ministry is that I am simply following after others I genuinely admire. When you admit that you are following the steps of another, it is advantageous because you are becoming something that is already successful and working. You are free from the disadvantage of experimentation. You are free from years of wasting time as you discover principles that have worked over and over again.
Furthermore, you are saved from the disadvantage of having to create a new name. Making a name is not easy. That is why names are sold as franchises. A good name is one of the most valuable things on earth. When you do not mind the association, you can truly benefit.
It takes humility to admit that you are not an original. When people are impressed with your ministry, it is not easy to reveal that your message is not original. When people are impressed with your style it is not easy to reveal that you learnt it from somewhere else.
It is the nature of snakes to be independent and solitary. This is the very opposite of how you must be if you want to walk with the Lord. The sheep nature is different from the serpent nature. To be another of the same kind, you will have to depend on someone, you will have to learn from someone and you will have to follow someone.
