The crescent was not sighted today, either in Ghana or elsewhere. Therefore, we will continue fasting tomorrow, and Eid will be observed on Friday, In shaa Allah.

May Allah accept our fasting, prayers, and all acts of worship.

Formal Announcement

In shaa Allah, the sighting of the Shawwal crescent will be observed on Wednesday, 18th March.

If the crescent is sighted, the Eid al-Fitr prayers will be held on Thursday 19th March.

If it is not sighted, we shall complete thirty days of fasting, and the prayers will be held on Friday 20th March 2026.

We kindly request all patrons to take note of this arrangement.

May Allah bless us all with a joyous and peaceful Eid.

Just before Jumu‘ah last Friday, a delegation from the Trinity Presbyterian Church paid a visit to the leadership of the Air Force Mosque.

They were ushered into the office and introduced themselves as representatives of the church, led by Catechist Kwame Larbi with two others.

Their purpose was to congratulate the Muslim community on the start of Ramadan and to donate cartons of water for fasting worshippers. They donated twenty bags of sachet water plus two cartons of bottled water.

On behalf of the mosque, the Chairman, Haj Saeed Hamid Jallo, thanked them and assured them the water would be used for its intended purpose. He also informed the delegation that the Imam is away on a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon and will be informed of this gesture.

The Administrative Secretary,Mustapha Mohammed Adam called for tolerance among all faiths. He commended the visitors for such wonderful gesture and assured them that the mosque will reciprocate.

The delegation proposed a friendly football match to strengthen the relationship between the two communities. Haj Saeed Hamid Jallo accepted but suggested scheduling it after Ramadan, joking that they might have chosen this time thinking fasting Muslims would be weak 😀.

He also pledged a visit to their church to speak on peace and religious tolerance in the Western Region.

The delegation promised to visit the mosque on Eid day to observe the activities and also cement the relationship as it is.

This visit is a reminder to all faith-based organisations to promote peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and understanding within our communities.

The Director-General od the Department of Religious Affairs of the Ghana Armed Forces, Brigadier- Gen. Benjamin Kumi-Woode paid us a visit during Jumua prayers today.

His mission was to commiserate with us and also take the opportunity to interact with the masjid.

In the photo is the DG speaking whilst the Chairman of the Mosque Management Committee, Haj Saeed Hamid Jallo looks on. With them are other members of his entourage as well as that of the mosque Committee.

MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE
From the Leadership of the Air Force Mosque - Takoradi.

With hearts shattered by sorrow, we, the leadership and congregation of the Air Force Mosque, extend our deepest condolences to the Command and entire leadership of the Air Force Base, as well as to the bereaved families and loved ones of our fallen officers, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the line of duty, in the tragic helicopter accident of 6 August 2025.

Their valour, devotion, and professionalism embody the highest ideals of this noble service. They departed this world upholding their sacred duty to our nation, and their memory will forever remain engraved in our collective history.

In this time of immense grief, we beseech Allah (SWT) grant their families fortitude, patience, and solace.

Indeed, as Allah reminds us in the Qur’an: “To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return” (Qur’an 2:156).

May their lives inspire their colleagues to uphold the principles of duty, and sacrifice ever mindful of the trust they honoured with their service.

On Wednesday, 23rd July 2025, the mosque leadership, under the chairmanship of Haj Saeed Hamid Jallo, paid a courtesy visit to Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, the newly appointed Commander of the Takoradi Air Force Base, at his office.

The visit aimed to welcome the Commander to his new role and introduce the mosque's management. It was also to strengthen cooperation between the Muslim community of Takoradi with the Base.

Chairman Jallo emphasized the importance of a cordial working relationship between the mosque and the base, ensuring the Commander of the mosque's commitment to peace.

In response, the Commander pledged support for the mosque and sought cooperation in promoting peaceful coexistence.

Other members of the delegation added their welcome messages. The meeting was held under a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation.

The Commander of the Takoradi Air Force Base, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi joined the Western Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Nelson for a health walk last weekend.

The Prophet said,:
«الْمُؤْمِنُ الْقَوِيُّ خَيْرٌ وَأَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِ الضَّعِيفِ، وَفِي كُلٍّ خَيْرٌ...»

Meet Major Imam Hassan Bigman, Deputy National Imam of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Hailing from Takoradi, he enlisted in the armed forces and ascended the ranks to become a major. His military career has taken him to numerous countries worldwide.

Previously, he served as the garrison Imam for the armed forces in Sekondi-Takoradi, leading prayers in various mosques, including the Takoradi Airforce Masjid.

In this video, Major Bigman addresses a large international gathering of soldiers, successfully promoting Ghana on the global stage. This achievement brings honor to the Western Region. Western, yɛ wɔ adze a oyie...
