IT'S ALL PART OF HIS PLAN
The norm or expectation is that once we are with God or God is on our side, everything should go smoothly and all our struggles or challenges in life must end.
This expectation is so strong in some of us to the extent that the moment things start to look bleak or as some will put it take a nose dive we tend to think we've done something wrong and God has neglected us because of our sins or mistakes.
We usually deem every negative outcome or an unpleasant result as the handwork of the devil or a curse for our misdeeds.
Beloved, though it be true that some of the times we suffer pain and loss due to our mistakes, it is not always the case.
From time in memorial, many righteous people have had challenging times whiles faithfully walking with God Almighty.
Abram obeyed the call of God to leave his comfort zone to a place that was yet to be shown him. One would expect that after such a show of faith in and obedience to God all will go smoothly for Abram, but such is not the record we have in Genesis 12:10 and other records in the bible concerning other faithful servants of God.
Upon trusting God and taking a greater leap of faith and arriving in the much anticipated promised land, the land of Canaan, it would be very fair to expect a bed of roses. It would be fair to expect nothing but goodies, bumper harvest, springs, wells and rivers of sweet clean waters and no opposition to progress because God is rewarding a faithful servant.
Abram, who later became Abraham, 'the father of the faithful' encountered famine.
I believe you wonder why such should be the case. Well, one thing we know for sure is that it was not because Abram disobeyed God or God was displeased in anyway with Abram.
Rather, there was famine in and around Canaan because Abram needed to go to Egypt, why? It was part of God's plan. The famine came to that area including Canaan, which at other times will be described as a land flowing with milk and honey, why? Because it was part of God's plan.
Just as it happened to Abram, it still happens to us. We're obeying God as much as we can and things are going well or not so well but then it suddenly goes worse and we're tempted to doubt that God is still with us. We're tempted to thing the devil is now in control or having his way.
Beloved, doubt not, stay trusting in the omnipotence of God and believe in his love and mercy to make it all work for your good in the end.
Indeed, His ways are not our ways and His thoughts not like ours. His is far better than ours and if we trust in His, no matter the turbulence and seeming darkness, we will be glorified beyond our imagination.
The church of Christ salutes and invites you. Stay blessed.
